we can give advice, if we know what profession you are going to do it as.

But assuming you have to stay in cantha there is a wonderful thread on how to farm HM Jade Brotherhoods for lots of xp , any class.

my advice
be very careful
dont take stupid risks
always carry atleast one self heal
try and get guildies to help you, but if your using henchs/pug be extra careful
alt+f4 is awesome in scary situations
always inform pugs of your survivor hopes. this was they at least know why you might have bailed in that huge mob
its fairly easy in cantha actually, just when you get to the mainland get max amour soon as possible
do all the quests you can when your in noob island. easy 3k is totally worth it
basically dont just run in anywhere, get self-heal, and always and dont go leeroying into that group of afflicted, they will proceed to rape you

I have a monk, i was thinking about getting to level 10, getting run to Kama, getting my heros and free exp. Then, going to Gunnars and boxing for my survivor title..
Can I use a fire imp in the boxing?

After Alt + F4 your character stays in-game for 30 seconds. That's worse than a 20k ping lag.
Imo bind F12 + Y to a mouse button or a quick-access key to make sure you can log out very fast.

That is one serious DO NOT DO. That is, don't EVER pug. Heroes, henches, close friends you know are at least good, with a high level (only 20) and their heroes, if they can (instead of henches).
I repeat, never pug. EVER. They will not only ignore your suvivor, but also out of malice may lure the mob on you.

What i'd do is always take a bonder monk or somethign with you, that way you should only have to worry about heavy damage and degen. Also take an emergency skill like shadow form that you can use if things get nasty, and it will give you enough time to log out.. hopefully

As your in Cantha
as advice like above take your time , you can be level 16 on island without
doing cap son nomatter what profession you are.(complete all quests)
On second mission get a run if your scared but can be done with hench at that level..
Max your Armour as soon as on Mainland
Then depends on how many campaigns you have toget to 20 easily
If you have only Factions (all quests around Keiang) flag your hench to do the fights , then take brother Toasi quest (Just Claim Reward dont take anymore from him)then do all quests up at top part only 2 groups to fight you will be level 20.Rank 1when all complete

Actually, it is possible to achieve r1 Survivor on your character without leaving Shing Jea Island. I did it with both my ritualist and assassin. All you have to do is complete every quest you find, complete the ones you can and get your guildies to help you with the ones you find harder.
Don't forget to get your insignia and the attribute quests.
Like MrGuildBoi said, make sure you do every profession quest, which lets you reach level 10 pretty easily.
If you need it, you can always check Guild Wars to find the quests you are missing.
After traveling to Kaineng Center, go to Tyria if you have Prophecies, and follow the storyline up to Augury Rock. Doing all the missions up to that point should allow you to reach ~250k, and beating your Doppelganger before ascending in another campaign will give you another 50k, which is pretty nice.
If you have Nightfall, though, start by getting the quest to travel to Elona and be extremely careful, as it is quite hard for an unprepared group. Once you are there, you will have to do a small mission allowing you to get some heroes. Take All for One and One for Justice from Dinja in Consulate Docks, complete it to get Olias, set him up as a minion master and then travel to Tyria.
Good luck.

Ok good point, I should have clarified a little bit more. He is right try your absolute hardest not to get into a PUG. PUG's are extremely dangerous, thats how I lost my survivor title, because someone thought it'd be great to agrro some huge group. Try and avoid getting into pugs, like as much as possible, get friends, guildies, people you trust, to help you out. BUT if you want to/must get in a PUG be extremely cautious, I'd still recommend saying your going for survivor, most people I have encountered were sympathetic with it, and weren't stupid. But going into a pug is a serious risk for your title, I'd say try and avoid them, but if you must go in and be very cautious. People tend to be assholes.

Play a ranged profession (ranger, paragon, or any of the casters except Necro because of the sacrifice).
Play through the game normally. It isn't that difficult, really. Just make sure you actually care to be a good player and learn how to play your profession without getting killed ^^;
Don't rage quit when someone agros a big group. You'll be fine if you're a good player Yes, even if you're the last one alive, and THEN you gotta leave because you can't finish the quest/mission alone!
Bring a real monk that you KNOW is good, not a henchie or hero.
If there are minnions (and there WILL, in factions) always stay WAY behind them.
If you're on the back, and a bunch of monsters somehow come to you, run / kite away from them (preferably where there aren't any other monsters :P
Be careful of those spikes eles! This is when it helps to stay back!, because usually the first person to charge in will be the one who gets spiked, and probably dead :P
My boyfriend has lost a paragon and necro rank 2 survivors, because of that.
Instead of hitting alt+f4 when you panic, hit G (guild), then hit Guild Hall. Ofcourse, this only works if you have a fast computer. On my boyfriend's laptop, I can go get myself some coffee instead of yawning waiting for the Guild window to show up :P
Mapping to guild hall is usually faster than logging out. (That is, even if you close guildwars, your character is still logged on aNet's server for a little bit.)
If you lag a lot, play on Chinese districts.
My Mesmer has done all 3 campaigns plus EotN, goes to AB when bored, and is still Survivor r2, needs ~4700 points or so until Legendary Survivor
I hate those so called survivors who quit on your team when they panic... Yup, I play with PUGs, because I HATE HATE HATE playing alone... I get so bored. It's way more fun to play with other people.
I DO quit when I panic, but only when playing alone.
Just play as normal, or you'll hate the title. Or if you're a title wh0r3, go ahead and get the title the boring way :P

I'm currently playing an Assasin survivor. The only things I'm afraid of are the Afflicted with their explosions and elementalists. Microing Tahlkora and casting PS on myself has been ftw so far. As far as playing is concerned, I went to Boreal station and EotN to pick up Ogden, Vekk and Gwen. Then returned to missions and quests in Cantha and Elona.

I'd farm for Survivor XP and get the title out of the way ASAP. Some people say that farming the title is the dishonorable way to get it, but who cares? I don't like to take chances and lose a character to something totally outside my playing ability (lag, disconnects, bugs).
I'd be REALLY enraged if I played the entire game, spent on captures, etc, only to lag and die at over 1 Million XP, after 100+ hours on the character.
Other day I lost a Survivor at Kilroy Boxing due to lag and he had 1.180 Million. Was I pissed? Very much, but I had spent like only 15 hours total on him and not much cash, so I just remade and tried again. Got Legendary 3 days ago doing full FoW runs (because I was sick and pissed at Kilroy) until 1 Million XP and finished the remaining 300K on HM Snow Wurms (just to avoid dying at the very end...).
The time you need to get the title playing normally is high. By the time you get the title this way, you could have failed and tried about 5 times with a farming method such as Kilroy.
Keep that in mind, and have fun, don't die.

Play with friends or guildies, particularly with Factions missions. While missions are easy they have some bosses there that can do some very, very nasty things.
Watch out in Boreas Seabed mission, the Spear can kill you in one hit (apparently it's a bug but it's kill 2 survivors of mine).
Watch out in afflicted missions - if you are a warrior just stay back!
If you are lagging, don't play on your survivor.
Wait for double cap weekends to get serious about capping.
Always make sure there are 2 copies of PS in your team! And micrio at at least 1 heal-hybrid.
