Could this be the hardest EotN dungeon?
OK I'm an ele and trying to h/h Vloxen in HM. am i fighting a losing battle? i'm not that good at micro managing but if thats my problem i'll have to learn won't i ? i tried to go 2 smite monks with a prot/heal monk with me as a arcane searing flames ele w/ the auspicious incantation rogorts for e-management but that can't get past the stone summit. so i put in a ele (with same build as me) andi can't get past the skeletons...
i just can't find a balance to get past both...

Hiya!
This dungeon is crazy in HM, and a cakewalk in NM. The Stone Summit mobs were the major problem for me. I ended up getting a friend to help me out with it, just for the extra damage output, though I have been assured it is possible with a H+H setup. Haven't done it myself though!
It may be worth trying the 3 necro discord builds I've seen posted, as they have a very nice damage output, and loading up with Frozen Soil to stop the Dwarves ressing each other. Having not completed this dungeon in HM with a H+H setup though, I'm not really sure what other advice to offer. Good luck with it though!
I'll be online anytime after this evening (I'm on UK time) if you need another set of human hands to help you out with this. Though the only character I have there is my mesmer.

I used Frozen soil + sniper support and abused the AI crappy path finding.

I ran this and did it in about 3 hours. The hardest part was the boss but after 2 deaths, it was gg.
I ran:
Dragon Slash warrior (me)
N/Rt SS Curses Necro
N/Mo Jagged Bones Bomber
WoH Monk
Healer Henchman
Blood Henchman
Fire Henchman
Interupt Henchman

Thanks for your help peeps, i'll give all your ideas a go.
i think thats one of the main problems for me, whenitrains, as an ele, i never have and tanking hero, my team will almost always comprise of all casters, which is never good
may be i'll take some minion stealing skill along with the jagged bomber and try and stick the frozen soil on my bar...

from someone who has done it with heroes nearly 100 times... you are fighting a losing battle only if you go in having no idea what you are up against and cant flag.
ideally find 1 friend so you can do it with full heroes and no hench. but if you can't, i'd suggest going AP caller, taking n/mo icy prot, VoR dom mes, and SS prot for heroes. Hench take the two monks, the interrupt, and earth.
with 6 heroes 2 players, this typically takes me 5 + 20 + 8 mins to do, but h/h is longer, prob take around an hour.
if you really need the help, just take a conset for f2. F1 and f3 are pathetically easy, with the exception of one group on f1

Can't remember the time but I did it on my ele once for the book
E/A - Assassin's Promise + Backfire + Wards + whatever you want to bring for dmg without exhaustion.
2 Smite Heroes + 1 Prot Hero + 2 Mo Hench + Interrupt + Mes
Was definetly not the ideal setup but worked fine. Cons on lvl2 and one Powerstone were needed.

I just did this last night in HM with the discord group and hench. In my idiocy, I forgot about bringing frozen soil, which made the two groups of stone summit with hard rez skills a complete pain. The only bad part I came across, though, was the boss on lvl 2 standing on the beacon. One screw up and you've got a mountain of minions on you as soon as you rez. Would've dp'd out without a couple of candy canes.

Having done this yesterday in HM I thought I'd add a few comments.
Most of the info you need to do this is already out there, the walkthrough on the discussion page in the wikia site I found very helpful.
Myself and a buddy did this with the following team:
WS Dervish, with PI + Asuran scan + Ebon standard of Courage
Curses Necro + PI + Ebon standard of wisdom
Heroes were
Gwen VoR/Interrupts
Dunk WoH/Prot hybrid x2
Master of Whispers Minion bomber with Discord elite
Livia Discord Rit healer
Margrid - BHA interrupt w. Frozen soil
My experience of it was that, if you can get past the Slavers mob guarding the door on floor one, you should pretty much be able to complete the dungeon.
The way to take them down is, as said before:
Aggro once and find their turn back point. (They should lay spirits you can use for regaining aggro)
Flag and hold just beyond this point. Lay FS and re aggro over and over each time breaking aggro when your party starts taking a hammering.
Eventually two things will start to happen:
They will start to straggle out and the odd dwarf will linger too long near your party as the others retreat.
Their casters will start to run low on energy (not they will never run out, but their casting becomes less 'spammy')
At this point you can start nailing them one at a time.
One other thing I noticed that I have not seen mentioned anywhere, is the the boss on level 2 (Kurg) and his entire mob can be drawn far away from the platform they are on.
We drew them out down a nearby passage then looped back around and took Kurg on his own from a different direction, totally avoiding having to kill any of his mob. Dead handy ...
The other Slavers Dwarves can be dealt with in the same manner as above and the rest of the dungeon is cake in comparison.
The two wards we carried are very useful vs Zoldark as they cannot be stripped.

I almost finished doing all the dungeons in HM. The only ones left are The Shards of Orr, Vloxen Excavations, Frostmaw's Burrow and Slaver's Exile.
I think I might have trouble only with SoO and VE. Actually tried the last one yesterday and it was a real pain on level two (after almost doing 60% DP at the end of level 1). I'm running a necro + 3 heroes nercos with Discord. Took a friend warrior with me (two monk heroes and a fire ele) and we sucked . After the first wipe we took Frozen Soil, but it was not so much of a help cause the pressure of the warders and contaminators killed us quickly (damn healer summits, they don't die fast enought). We wiped at the end of level 2. Can anyone suggest a build for me and my friend warrior (and the heroes we should take?)?
I was thinking on switching to SoO for a change, but I don't know what smiter build will be good. I will be thankful if someone post a good hero smiter build.

I have to agree that Vloxen was one of the hardest dungeon to do in HM.
After a few attempts with various builds we got one rolling that allowed us to get through the 3 levels without too much difficulty (cept one spot on level 2 where we had agroed a group at shrine and wiped... thought it was over then but we managed to pull them away after rezing)
Anyways, or team set up was:
One tank (Obsidian Flesh) W/E (Real player)
2 Searing Flames E/P with Meteor Shower
2 Healing monks (Real Players)
1 Vision of Regrets Mesmer
1 Spiteful Spirit Necro
1 Weapon of Remedy N/Rt
Could have probably been a bit more effective as our builds weren't perfected but it worked well enough and we could finish the dungeon.
Also, heroes aren't always the best at casting the right spell at the right time so some micro management helps a lot.
I think it would probably have been even easier with a Prot monk instead of the N/Rt or one of the healers.
Anyways, not an easy Dungeon in HM so good luck to anyone attempting it and don't give up if you wipe or have a hard time getting your team working well!

I would definitely say that Vloxen Excavations is one of the hardest dungeons in HM if not the hardest.
- Though Zoldark does attack, the main threat comes from his several monster specific skills to buff his group of 6 Minions of Zoldark. He doesn't heal and takes very little damage even from degen. The key to defeating him is to continually kill his minions (AoE damage is ideal for this), as once they are dead, he uses a skill that allows him to simultaneously resurrect all six of his minions at a cost of a 5% health sacrifice. Eventually he will sacrifice himself to near death, at which point he will stop animating his minions. When this happens, concentrate on Zoldark and finish him.
- Note that if his Master of Necromancy runs out and he has no more minions, he will lose all the life he gained from that skill. This can often kill him when he is near death.
- Also, if killing him by the techniques above, its a good idea to stand near Zoldark, so that he also takes damage from your party's AoE damage.
- Taking a minion master seems not to be the best idea for this dungeon as minions will frequently be taken from you by enemies.
- For HM, like in Slaver's Exile, take [[Frozen Soil] to deal with the Stone Summit Dwarves (FS does not prevent Zoldark from resurrecting his minions).
