Not new to PvE, working on my umpteenth PvE character. Seems as though Vael is refusing to appear where he normally appears!

I've read here and here and have rezoned many times and have been unable to trigger the "whisper in the wind" in which the mysterious voice starts talking like a stalker. I start from longeye's and I walk past the path...no voice. I walk up the pathway where the rabbits are...no voice. Ran through the middle of Grothmar and visited both of the points mentioned in the 2nd link.

Am I doing something wrong?

every time i have done the quest he has always appeared in spawn past the bridge if he not spawning at all for u only thing can think of is u haven't done assualt on stronghold other then that dunno try hitting all 3 points he spawns not just one by longeyes

agreed with the dawg, in order for vael to appear you have to have the ebon vanguard questws completed.

no u dont. i've made him appear on my ranger and he hasn't completed any of the ebon vanguard quests. You must complete ebon vanguard storyline to get the quests Vael gives you, but not to spawn him with the whole stalker speach thing.

That is incorrect.

@OP: When he's not near the entrance to Longeye's, you should be able to find him standing alone to the southeast in about the center of Grothmar. For the exact location, you can find a map on wiki that shows all Vael's locations.

Bleh. Problem solved. Did Against the Charr and Assault on Stronghold. I'm not sure which one triggered it, but I eventually ran into Vael during another quest in the middle of Dalada.
