The only thing I can think of is that Hero's Journey isn't really the trigger for Hero's Challenge - the specific profession quests that you can obtain by doing Hero's Journey are.
Make sure you've completed at least one of the four other profession quests (for example if you're W/Mo, go do the Elementalist's Path in Heroes' Audience), and if you already have, I'm clueless.

This seems to be the most common problem we run into with this question on Guru. Something else that seems to matter is that secondary profession you are when you talk to Vanyi. It has been reported that you cannot obtain this quest while you have your initial secondary active, and must change to a new one, and then change districts or otherwise leave the outpost and come back.
If these do not work, let us know.

I have done the second profession change quest already and tried entering droknar's forge with several different secondary professions active, this still is not triggering the quest at Vanyi for me... any other suggestions?

Just double checking here, you are a Prophecies character correct? As silly as asking this is, I seem to recall it was the last person's problem.

Also, a potentially related story if Ariena's other idea is off -
There was one time I had a Factions character and I couldn't get Zunraa to offer An Unwelcome Guest to me (the second attribute point quest). I tried and tried to figure it out what was wrong, until it hit me - I had already done Unwelcome Guest, and I hadn't done Lost Treasure (the first quest), and that was the 15 points I was missing.
tl;dr version - are you sure you haven't previously done Hero's Challenge and not Forgotten Wisdom?

It is a prophecies campaign character, and I have done the forgotten wisdom quest already. Still not sure why it is not being triggered...

If you are a prophecies character
and you have completed a secondary profession quest
and you have completed the first +15 attribute quest...
the only thing left to do is physically visit the following three outposts in the Crystal Desert:
- Destiny's Gorge
- Heroes' Audience
- Seeker's Passage
If you have them on your map, just map travel to each one (doesn't matter which order), then go back to vanyi and you will be able to proceed.
If you don't have one or more of them on your map, then you've got some walking to do.

The first 15 point attribute quest (The Hero's Journey) involves travelling to Seeker's Passage, Destiny's Gorge and Heroes' Audience - so he's already done that.
Also "You do not actually have to change your secondary profession, you only need to complete one of the quests needed to change your secondary profession." - so that's out too.
Hmm, tricky - are you absolutely sure that you don't have 300 attribute points already? I know it's a stupid question, but I struggled for ages to get one of the Factions quests to activate only to find out I had 300 already. Still have no idea how that happened...

Should be 200!
Regardless, I wouldn't be surprised if Snograt's theory is right, seeing as how we've thought of almost everything else... If not, I'm curious to see if you have figured this out yet!
