Pre-Searing
So i see that people talk about staying in pre-searing. Are you able to go to all the other regions? Im just curious as to why not go to the academy.
Sorry this is probably a very newb question, but im curious.
Thanks
Serius

There's the Legendary Defender of Ascalon (LDOA) title that you can only get in pre by reaching lvl 20. Some people stay 'cause they just like it there. Dye farming is good because the drop rate is the same even though the monster levels are way low. Someone can always carry the dye into post for you. I keep a perma-pre character there just for a change of pace when I feel like helping out new people, so on, so forth...

Pre-Searing has a very active and (generally) nice community, so a lot of players prefer that to the pressured community of the rest of the game.
It also looks nicer.

No, that's the whole point. You are limited to the small area around Ascalon City with access only to the outposts of Fort Ranik, Ashford Abbey, Foible's Fair and The Barradin Estate.

Can you imagine pets are gods in pre now, with the recent buff they received. Even a level 3 pet would have more armor than best warrior armor, or level 8 pet to outclass a ranger's inherent +30AL elemental armor. Add in the +33% damage buff and -33% less damage they take.. just have to learn proper pet aggro control :-)

A seasoned guildwars player usually realizes it's good to keep at least one char back in Pre to keep connected with that world and such. There's also LDoA as mentioned some posts above me. It's also a great place to go and relax and get away from the normal game where people argue over builds and skills and you can still enjoy GW at the same time. Farming Dyes in pre is fun too.
And no, Unfortunately you are only restricted to a smaller area of Ascalon. Not sure why they didn't include ALL of Ascalon to explore before it got destroyed (particularly west of the breach and most the eastern areas like pockmark flats.) Though most of the "Great Northern Wall Mission" zone is accessable from the northlands. And so is the shell of the outpost "Piken Square". But I realize it's also meant to be a tutorial area and tutorial areas are usually small. THE best "tutorial" area in GW IMO.

also its just a nice thing to assist any new players in your guild by having a higher leveled toon in pre that if they need any help you can assist them quickly with farming for items for armor collectors or whatever the case may be. and now that the pets got buffed i need to go charr farming ttyl LOL>

Btw, has anyone tested pets in pre? If so how well does it work out now with the buff?

I find that my pet is waayyyy more durable (lvl 9 warthog).
He's not quite as durable as compared to my lvl 10 Fire Imp, however
at 2 BM points, he's dealing around 14-17 dmg. way better than his 4-6 against charr.
those were observed during solo charr farming as a lvl 10 R/E, mind you
