Cyndr and the Paragon
After spending too much quality time with Cyndr, my Paragon gave up on defeating the wurm with heroes and henchmen. I tried all the recommended solutions (SS & SV Necros, touch rangers, WoH monks, and flagging), but it boiled down to one simple solution, do this mission with real people.
I put my name on the mission search window with lfg in HoS and folks joined up. That statement screams noob - lol. I had my doubts about the assembled PUG because there was not a Necro or Ranger on the list.
We had 2 Warriors, 2 Paragons, 1 Deverish, 1 Ele, and 2 monk heroes.
Yasmin the Paragon used a Cautery Signet build and my Paragon used Focused Anger build with the Ranger poison signet.
Cyndr went down on the first try.
My thanks to the team, it was a pleasure.

Did I miss something? Barbs and some physicals + pets are all I need to kill Cyndr, and yeas for heaven's sake USE FLAGS to spread you heroes in a circle around cyndr, else everything will fail faster then a rabbit gets f*cked

I stand by my "hide behind a wall and poison him with arrows" strategy. It's not failed me yet.

Well, i read all the stuff related to Cyndr and still can't achieve to beat this big, full of flesh and armor, wurm. I tried several builds and they all failed. Micromanagement is not part of my best skills though. I can flag my heroes but as I play an Ele tank i can't stop moving to flag my heroes.
My question is, simply ,where do you advertise for this quest ? Eye of the North ? Olafstead ?

I got lucky with the whole hide behind the wall strategy. Other then that i kept recurring a -60 dp and kept getting one shotted. Its just not easy with henchmen or heroes.

Nah, no need to hide, take the hits and your hench healers will fix it for you. Burning and Poison will take him down, just keep your H/H out of the way (inside the tunnel at the last bend) of his pyro blast thingy. You might even be able to solo him with a standard Burning Arrow GvG build.

I went as an ele and my friend went as a warrior. We both took 3 heros each. I took 2 monks, a prot and a healer, and I took a ranger interrupter. He took Koss, Olias as a life stealing and zhed as a snare I think.
We postioned the heros like someone said, created a circle of heros, and as they were keeping him away from me, I was able to use the barrels and take him down pretty quickly. This was only my 2nd time.
My friend, although couldn't hurt him until I disabled it, was tanking to throw him off as well. Only 2 of our heros died once. The monks stayed alive as my ranger interrupt the other 2 skills.

Solo guide
Take all 3 hero rangers set them to touchies
[Vampiric touch] [vampiric bite] [grenths balance] [whirling defense] [throw dirt] only skills needed
Equip with any staff or wand/off hand anything to boost energy
Max expertise
Max blood
Takes a little longer to get there but the final boss is a quick "how do you do"
Take both healer hench
Warrior hench
Cynn
Call target after touching the anvil and bum rush him
If you can set yourself to blood life steal it will speed up the fun

I had serious problems with him a few days ago, best way is to just get like 2 decent healers, a touch ranger, and ALL out "Player Only" bombard him with bombs, and he goes down very fast.
I found it extremely difficult and a waste of time to do this with henchmen and heroes.

Honestly go touchie my friend Charge and attack as a mass you want your hench touchies to be hit with his breath weapon. As long as hey have no –dp. They will grab the health right back with [grenth's balance] and take a chunk of his health over and over.

I'm sorry to say but trying this with h/h is just waste of time. If you have touch rangers you are lucky but else just forget it. I finished it yesterday with 4 other people and we did it in less than 10 seconds by dropping kegs only. If you are masochist then go with h/h. Most of suggestions here don't work because Arena removed them long time ago.

I just did it again last night with my new necro. I tried getting cute and setting up a dual monk protection setup, with a battery necro to protect me while I ran the keg but that was a joke. Just going back to the old old standby of life stealing skills was surprisingly effortless on my second try. Here's my setup:
Pyre Fierceshot - Superior Expertise Rune (necessary!), Totem Axe (any melee weapon would work fine), Blood Focus (no other runes, since I never use him) - Touch Ranger
Livia, Olias and Myself (necro) - Removed any unneeded superior runes, maxed blood magic and took about 4 life stealing skills (Blood drinker, Jaundiced Gaze, Vamp gaze, and Angorodon gaze I think, Barbed Signet, offering of Blood elite but probably not necessary). I also spec'd a few points into death and took rotting flesh too. If I had Order of Vampire or Grenth's Balance unlocked, I bet that would work well too.
Henchies were Eve, both monks, and an archer (I think)
Basically you just attack Cyndr right off the bat and not worry about the keg at all. He went down in a few seconds since his health really isn't that high to begin with. Life stealing skills go right through the carapace.
The challenge is mainly keeping your team alive to get there since it isn't exactly the best PvE team. Be sure to hug the right hand wall on the first level to avoid as many Wizards as you can and be wary of those magma blisters and flame elementals right before Cyndr.

I did it with just Livia and myself (ele) loaded up with life-stealing skills, and the rest of the team balanced. It was no trouble getting to Cyndr, and it didn't take long for the two of us to get the beastie down without keg running. I had so much fun with it that I've put rolling a necro char on my to-do list.

Does anyone know if [Ray of Judgment] hits through the carapace?

Not unless you know of a skill that changes Holy Damage to life stealing...

This mission does not require any special builds or tricks. Just like someone said, flag your heroes out, trigger the boss, and run the kegs. Works in both NM/HM, H/H.
Special builds does make it easier / faster for some people, but just following the basics can ensure you that you can kill the boss with just 1 caraspace down in HM, H/H (done it plenty of times).
Basics = flagging, team setup of hero/hench as well as team build synergy.

No, it does not *require* special builds, but I prefer that to the hero flagging technique, which I find very tedious before I get it just right. Basically, I never run this mission without 2-3 ranger/necro heroes anymore. I think the keg running is a pain in the tail and so it's nice not to have to bother with it.

Yeah, as I mentioned earlier in this thread, life stealing skills are really the way to go.

tips for a survivor war when killing Cyndr?
thinking 3 touchers + 2 monk hench + optional x2
and just flag them to cyndr and let them spam away whilst I am at a safe distance?
any other methods or would that be the best bet?

Training Vampiric Bite for my hero
Ok I can't figure out how to train Vampiric Bite for my R/N hero. Did web search for an hour and couldn't find it. Thanks!
