Tried it with these hero skills:
[skill]Grenth's balance[/skill][skill]vampiric touch[/skill][skill]throw dirt[/skill][skill]whirling defense[/skill][skill]dryder's defenses[/skill][skill]Foul Feast[/skill][skill]troll unguent[/skill][skill]resurrection signet[/skill]
and got it almost down, but for some reason my heroes refused to touch. If they had done so I would have killed the wurm.

Did you maybe have them in guard or passive mode rather than attack mode?

I tried this with my Ritualist today. Set Pyre up for lots of poison, set Livia for life stealing, hid Dunkoro and the rest of the team around the corner to heal Livia and Pyre, cast Shelter every time it recharged, and poof. Dead. Didn't have to run one keg! This thread and the other linked ones helped me a lot!

I set the heroes on attack mode, and took off their bows. Noticed Cyndr's health going down and expected to win, but than suddenly for like 20 seconds no dmg was done anymore and my party got defeated.
I think I'm gonna capture this skill and play monk/ritualist: [skill]Weapon of Remedy[/skill]
Hope that this will help. But Christmas hollidays is over so it has to wait. I'll report back later. Thanks everyone for advice.

I have had really good success with Nevermiss' Touch Ranger skill lineup:
[skill]vampiric bite[/skill][skill]vampiric touch[/skill][skill]throw dirt[/skill][skill]whirling defense[/skill][skill]dryder's defenses[/skill][skill]offering of blood[/skill][skill]troll unguent[/skill][skill]resurrection signet[/skill]
Attribute points:
Blood Magic: 12
Expertise: 11+1+2
Wilderness Survival : 6+1
I give the rangers a focus item for extra energy and sometimes no weapons at all, and then I park them next to Cyndr. I also lock them onto Cyndr as well as set them on aggressive. The rest of the team just interrupts and/or heals. Also, Offering of Blood addresses the biggest problem with the rangers: low energy.
Perhaps there is a non-Factions alternative to Vampiric Bite that would work as well. I am not sure about that, though.
I have h/h'd this mission the more usual way with Pyre (pure interrupt), Ogden (healing/prot), and Jora (Defy Pain tank + interrupts) with my Warrior and running the kegs, however -- along with Lina (keep in mind that Lina has [skill]Zealous Benediction[/skill] as her elite and she is not shy about using it, Mhenlo, Zho, and Herta. It's harder that way, but it can be done. Just make sure the two Heroes are locked on Cyndr and set on Attack mode and "call the target" each time you target Cyndr and run back toward him with a keg, so that the rest of the henches actually do something useful. Having a keyboard key tied to "drop item" is also very helpful. You don't want to stand around holding those kegs for very long.
I have tried working [skill]Grenth's Balance[/skill] into the mix, but it did not seem as effective for some reason -- perhaps because it is not a blood magic attribute spell?

Thanks so much for the touch ranger tips I easily beat it without dying, even though I only had two ranger heroes (no Jin yet...). Since I didn't have the third ranger, for the third slot i put in Jora with a random build that included poison and such. Pyre died once or twice but everything else was really smooth. Yay~

Oops, forgot that I can't use [skill]Weapon of Remedy[/skill] because I don't own Factions. So it seems this quest can be done quite easily for those who own Factions with [skill]Vampiric bite[/skill] as extra leech skill on the heroes and/or the above skill on the the player, but what if you don't own Factions and dropping Kegs fails? Is there another build to bring Cyndr down with core skills, prophecy skills and Nightfall skills only?

There are a number of other lifestealing skills that might be helpful: Life Stealing Quick Reference.

OMG, I did it! This was my monk's build:
[skill]Bane Signet[/skill][skill]Signet of Judgment[/skill][skill]Castigation Signet[/skill][skill]Banish[/skill][skill]Healing Breeze[/skill][skill]Protective Spirit[/skill][skill]Vampiric Touch[/skill][skill]Rebirth[/skill]
Acolyte Jinn:
[skill]vampiric touch[/skill][skill]Blood of the Aggressor[/skill][skill]Barbed Signet[/skill][skill]whirling defense[/skill][skill]dryder's defenses[/skill][skill]Life Transfer[/skill][skill]troll unguent[/skill][skill]resurrection signet[/skill]
Piere Fierceshot:
[skill]vampiric touch[/skill][skill]Grenth's Balance[/skill][skill]Throw Dirt[/skill][skill]whirling defense[/skill][skill]dryder's defenses[/skill][skil]Foul Feast[/skill][skill]troll unguent[/skill][skill]resurrection signet[/skill]
General Morgan:
[skill]vampiric touch[/skill][skill]Blood of the Aggressor[/skill][skill]Barbed Signet[/skill][skill]Song of Restoration[/skill][skill]Aria of Zeal[/skill][skill]resurrection signet[/skill]
Henchies were:
Mhenlo, Lina, Devona and Talon Silverwing
I boosted my heroes with +life/engergy items. The warriors were added because they have more chance to survive, giving others chance to kill Cyndr.
Thanks a lot everyone for the suggestions!

the best way to beat the worm is to find a group of atleast 3 players and a good team set up with maximum dps, so when u put the bombs around hit ull have enough time to take almost 3/4 of his life , yep real players are the key

Ugh. I own all campaigns, but the character I'm doing GW:EN with has only reached the Kourna region of Nightfall.
Suffice to say, my only toucher hero is Pyre (my character himself is a ranger too, though). Two touchers can't pull it off, apparently. I didn't even get CLOSE. I chose Sousuke for my Zaishen hero, and I was going to take the Master of Whispers path later on in Nightfall since my Dervish had chosen Margrid (and I myself was a ranger). But apparently I may have to sacrifice this freedom or beat Nightfall just to get another ranger hero.
Also, how do you guys flag your healers at a fair distance? For me, Cyndr blows up my entire party as soon as I reach the bloody chamber...

I completed this mission with my warrior and only two touch rangers (Jin was only lvl 11 so I left her at home ). I brought Zho, Herta, and the two monks, plus Jora for extra tanking/interrupts. The hench part of your team should be healers, tankers (for sheer survival power), and/or interrupters (Zho!).
Remember, this mission can be done conventionally with Heroes and henches. Your best bet would probably be a tanking (Defy Pain/Dolyak Signet)/interrupting warrior Hero, an interrupting BHA/whirling defense ranger Hero, and maybe a healer Hero. What is absolutely critical is that the two fighting heroes (the ranger and warrior) MUST be set on Aggressive and Locked onto Cyndr at the beginning since they are the only two characters that will actually be attacking Cyndr whenever you go for the kegs. All of the henches (and presumably your passive healer Hero) will not be attacking at all but "retreating". I never bothered with flagging anybody, but that may help, too.
Speaking only for myself though, I have been taking my own ranger and monk through Nightfall to get their ranger Heroes before they take on Cyndr. Nightfall is a pretty quick and easy-to-solo campaign if you follow the primary quest line. Though others may disagree, nothing in Nightfall -- including Abaddon and the various Gate/Torment missions -- is as difficult to h/h as Heart of the Shiverpeaks.

I know they recently nerfed Cyndr's carapace so you cannot life drain him whilst it is up. However, does life stealing still work whilst it is up? I'm thinking of running:
Me (Ranger): Touch, once again
Pyre (Ranger): Touch, once again
Livia (Necro): Life stealing if that works
Tahlkora (Monk): Prot, primarily [skill]Protective Spirit[/skill]
Else, I have a good idea for fighting him the conventional keg way:
Me: Incendiary Arrows (burning and interrupt)
Pyre: Apply Poison
Livia: Life Drain/Steal
Vekk: Echo nuke [skill]Meteor Shower[/skill] when carapace is down
What do you think?

I am pretty sure any of the lifestealing skills will work against Cyndr, carapace or no carapace. I haven't tried this mission with lifestealing necros, though. That might be kind of fun. :-)
I believe Cyndr is resistant to fire damage (Meteor Shower), but I could be wrong about that. Something like [skill]Sandstorm[/skill] might be more effective. (Herta uses this elite, I believe.)
The handy thing about Cyndr is that it really doesn't take that long to get to him to perform your various Hero combo "experiments". I sometimes wish Ilsunder (Catacombs of Kathandrax) and Fendi (Shards of Orr) were as easy to get to; there are a lot of things I'd like to try against them! Both of those bosses are a royal pain with h/h teams (though for different reasons), in my opinion, and make Cyndr look like a real wimp in comparison.
Incidentally, I used a variation on Nevermiss' touch ranger skill setup to ace Shards of Orr; it allowed my ranger to "tank" the undead mobs very nicely. All I'd do is just stand there and take very little damage while my smite and elly Heroes and henches blasted the living daylights out of all those nasty wizards, necromancers, brutes and clerics.

I beat the big bad Wurmie, using a PuG.
Unless one is really compelled to H/H the guy, please, for preservation of your own sanity, just PuG him. Even PuGs can't mess up on him too easily, considering you don't need a specific build to beat him - just some spread out HUMANS and a steady supply of kegs.
We brought two heroes - my Tahlkora as prot and another guy's Dunkoro as healer. Other than that we just did some pretty normal fighting, no touch rangers or anything.
...we even had an assassin and won! :O
