Uh, you don't notice any sort of pattern there? With your original mesmer build you lost a lot, with your new one you won a lot, and the only time you lost was when you were out of commision because of energy. YOU started winning for your team. The same happened to me. As soon as I realized what I should be doing (dropped backfire and empathy for power spike and power leak), the teams I was on got progressively better. Mesmers can have a very large influence on a team. A bad one basically makes it a 3v4, and a good one can completely turn the tide of a fight.

the only way i found a primary mesmer that didn't use any other skills to work was to go massive interrupt. when you have every interrupt skill in the game, it can be really funny to play. just stand next to an enemy spellcaster and stop everything they try to do. another good combo is the domination/interrupt mesmer with a protection monk secondary. gotta watch the energy on that one though.

I have an Elementalist, but I'm thinking of making a Mes/Nec next.
Let's say you're kitted out to screw over casters, and your group is calling to attack a Warrior say. Do you aid them in their focus fire on the Warrior, adding probably only a little damage, or focus on the monk, putting a stop to his healing to help your team kill the Warrior faster.

Iv just started a Necro/mesmer, and I have to say im having a blast too. Iv got a lvl 19 Warrior/Necro and iv got a bit dissapointed with it. The attributes iv got highest are illusion and domination, then blood magic and soul reaping, and by using soul barbs followed by backfire for casters or apathy for melee and then all the other decent hex spells a necro/mes has I can get a good dot on a foe as well as having them take direct damage whenever they do something.
Youv got to watch the energy a lot, try and space out your casting a bit, but soul reaping is good for when people start dying.
Im finding if I get left alone by the enemy, then I can severly disable anyone, and quite often get a rapid kill, if i have to go head to head with a charging warrior though iv got to watch out. W/Mo that used to give me a lot of trouble as my warrior/necro, and monk primary's if they were healing themselve, i will kill pretty quickly if they dont know im on them.
Head to head with a good warrior, or against another mesmer build i would be worried though.
