I've found my war/nec to be extremely good at surviving, especially against melee characters. I just let the melees kill themselves (with gentle nudges from me), healing me all the while.
Anyway, if you want to take out casters fast, try a war/mes. It's especially effective against monks, but will work against elementalists and necromancers as well. Alternatively, you can build for anti-melee, and burn through warrior/monks like there's no tomorrow (though still not as well as a war/nec).

Bad part about being a Warrior main: Very Low Energy.
Good parts: Fantastic Armor
If you want to be alittle more active (outside of slashing away in melee) you may want to try a diffrent main, like a Nerco as main, you'll have twice the mana and regin. And with the right skills you can offset the AL loss, altough the Nerco armor like is slightly better than most casters, Vs melee atleast.
W/Elementalists have the Lesser evergy rune which opens up some of the more powerful spells to a warrior. But you'll be short on good healing.
W/Me will probably be your best bet if you want to be a caster killer, but alot of the good anti-caster spells (Domination line) are mana intensive, and you'll not be casting much.
If you just want to do good damage and survive a long time, go the standard, see at least 3 or 4 in every battle, W/Monks. Good healing, good damage, reusable Rez. plus you don't stick out, after all there are 3 or 4 others in the same battle with your exact skill set.... for better or worse.

I say read up the article on this site for Warrior / Elementalist
HERE: http://www.guildwarsguru.com/content...w-3-id1190.php
Its a VERY long read.. but is WELL worth reading for ANY warrior because the first half of the article goes into real depth about what a warrior is and what his job is all about.
its about the principles of a Warrior build, and then goes on to explain how elementalist skills will compliment the warriors main task.
Now alot of those skills cant be attained in RolePlay until MUCH later on... however, based on the ideas of that article it gives a real boost to confidence when selecting skills through the role play character.
Gives you a sense of purpose... which is what a warrior needs
