gonzo aggressive melee players
I realize this gets a lot of discussion but I want to add my 2 cents. I play a Mo/R and am currently LvL 15....
Why does every group I join have at least one complete knucklehead? Mostly I'm talking about PvE, as I haven't spent a lot of time in PvP.......
I'm talking about the person who feels it is their patriotic duty to run ahead and engage entire mobs singlehandedly while others are way way behind or worse yet still recovering from the last mob?
Usually a W or E but some are Rangers, often times they are poorly armored and take an extrodinary amount of healing to even try to keep alive. They don't realize they are at times the lowest LvL in the group and worst prepared to fight, as a Monk is it my duty to heal them to the detriment of the rest?
I can't decide if I should just let them die and start healing the pets before them. The problem is that once they rack up that 2nd, 3rd or 4th DP they are even more useless than they were before, not that they cast (use Energy) that much anyway.
My rough healing priority is
1. My own tail (a dead Mo heals no one else)
2. Dying other players
3. other 50% health players
4 Pets
If you really want to be healed 5th on that list go ahead and let me find you rushing into mobs and "forget" to heal you. Don't be more aggressive than the rest of the players, this game doesn't really reward it.
I really wish there was some sort of XP, gold, or lasting penalty for those who put the entire team at risk of not completing quests by playing a CORPG like it was a FPS. If in a team of 6 even 50% of my heals are targeting you that's a problem, I have strong Smiting spells and my "only role" is not to heal your sorry tail.
I'd like to hear from other Monks on this question....Do you let them die? or do your holy Monk duty and cleanse the unwashed and forgive those who do not ask forgiveness (they do however ask to be healed)?

I'm not a monk (Elementalist/Necromancer) but I'd just let them die if I were you. Sounds like either way they're a detriment to your party whether they're imposing a huge death penalty or wasting your time by healing them. Maybe if they died a couple of times they'd get the hint. Or leave. Either way you win.

There's a monk thread somewhere about the joys of monking - one of which is that you are a valuable commodity, melee-rushing warrior boy is not. Lay down the law, and don't be afraid to. Just say "You need to give me time to recover some energy before engaging the next mob. Slow down." If they get annoying stop healing them, or explain that the party can just do it without a monk then. Monks are sought after because they keep everyone alive, I don't expect a monk to bother healing an idiot, cheaper to just res him after when you have the time. Just get a necro to put a nice big death nova on him and use him as a bomb every fight Or leave him dead.

After ascending, being in one of my benevolent moods, I went to yak's to help others level. I was using a monk at the time, which should have been a breeze, but I noticed that I was having a really hard time keeping the group alive. It was because of the dumb warrior running in like a henchman. After I taught them the concept of pulling (which I was awed that they did not know), it became quite a bit easier. Then a dumb elementalist kept running out and casting spells like Orion on mobs we didn't even need to kill. Maybe he thought that he was healing himself by casting, I don't know. After repeated warning, I let him die and went on without bothering to res him. After a while, he left the group.
