Armchair PvP: The Me/Mo Team
This is strictly an armchair post. I have no actual experience in PvP, nor am I likely to gain any. However, it's still fun to think about PvP team builds. Would it work? I have no idea. It seems like it might be fun to try though.
So how about a team composed entirely of Mesmer/Monks? The idea would be to have every teammate equipped with Vengeance and be set up in one of three configurations: Melee Destroyer, Caster Destroyer, Healer. Something like the following (just starting points - I'm sure there are better setups for each pupose):
Mesmer/Monk Caster Destroyer
Fast Casting 11
Domination 10
Inspiration 10
Vengeance
Wastrel's Worry
Power Spike
Power Leak
Shame
Energy Tap
Power Drain
Backfire
* * *
Mesmer/Monk Melee Destroyer
Fast Casting 11
Domination 10
Illusion 10
Vengeance
Distortion
Soothing Images
Shatter Enchantment
Phantom Pain
Conjure Phantasm
Empathy
Diversion
* * *
Mesmer/Monk Healer
Fast Casting 11
Healing Prayers 10
Protective Parayers 10
Vengeance
Restore Life
Distortion
Orison of Healing
Heal Other
Martyr
Purge Conditions
Convert Hexes
Fast Casting plus Vengeance would give every member of the party the ability to throw down a very fast (if temporary) res. The Healers in the party would be able to permanently res as well if needed. Since all the players are the same profession there is no one automatic target for the enemy to zerg. By the time they've selected a target all your teammates should be focused on making some else's life unpleasant, which as Mesmers they should be well equipped to do. Anyone that falls can be up and running again in about 2 seconds and back on the warpath.
I would think the biggest problem for this sort of setup would be a team of nothing but Wariors, or worse yet Rangers. Rangers because it's not well equipped to counter them, and Warriors simply because if the opposing team were only Warriors there wouldn't be enough counters on your side to go around. But I would guess it might be a pretty good setup against any "balanced" team.
So. Have I missed anything blatantly obvious to someone that actually plays PvP? Would it work? Have we "been there done that" already and I'm just late to the boat? Do remember two things. One: I'll reiterate that this is strictly an armchair idea; I don't pretend it's more. Two: Be polite in your responses. If you aren't I'll simply ignore you. I have no patience for stupidity, incivility or condescension.

Personally, i think thats a bit too much into fast cast. Take it up to 7 tops. after that, it becomes too expensive for the results you get.
I also think that against some teams, you would win, but you will be smashed against any organized team. The main winning point would be that they may have a hard time finding the healers. Thats not a problem for a good team though.
If that advantage is lost, you lose mainly because your spells are situational. Most only work if conditions are met. Thats easy to avoid. What do your anti-melee mesmers do if the melee stop attacking?.
Vengeance is pretty easily interrupted, and if you remember who it was cast on, simply ignore that target and kill another. After all, they will just die in 30 seconds. Pretty soon your whole team will be dropping dead every 30 seconds.
My points are armchair points as well. I have never seen it done, or even attempted. Its possible, that with a good neough tema, you could pull it off. But I think more balanced teams ( with skill) will tear it apart.

Well I did try to make sure that the non healers have a direct damage spell to fling if the other side tries to turtle. Wastrel's Worry, Phantom Pain. And those assigned healing duties have real rezzes to use as well. If the melee aren't attacking they are sitting there being whittled down. Same for casters. I certainly even in theory wouldn't expect such a team to be the be all end all, but I would hope if it were fielded by skilled players it would win a fair amount of the time and be hellishly demoralizing to play against.
Since we are both armchairing it's hard to say.
My armchair is big and comfy though!
re: Fast Cast - certainly possible easy enough to change that rating to a lower one. None of those builds are set in stone. They were just quick ideas for templates.
