I am not sure if this is correct. However...
There are spells that exist with armor penetration, mainly the Air Magic line of the Elementalist. I believe the elemental damage from a dragon sword applies to armor [like Deadly Swarm], so Strength's armor penetration should help.

I tried this out yesterday with a normal max damage slash axe and a fiery max damage axe.
with strength at 0 - 10 damage was the same for melee hits with the fiery axe.
with strength at 10 damage was -2 per hit with slash axe (vs fiery)
with strength at 0 damage was -9 per hit with slash axe (vs fiery)
This was against a grand drake lvl 20. I guess I need to do more testing and maybe fight things I know have armor types that I know of. As of now, I have strength at 0 and have 12 Fire (Cold) 12 Axe (Sword)
Strength just doesn't seem to do anything for me atm.. could just be preception though.

This is confusing me too.
With Strength at 0. I did 20 max damage to a white mantle with a normal slashing attack.
Then I set Strength to 12. I still did 20 max damage to a white mantle with a normal slashing attack.
How is this supposed to work? Is it a bug?

I think Strength only applies to special attacks, not normal swings.
AOE skills like Hundred Blades or Cyclone Axe benefit most from it.. especially Hundred Blades, since you get two hits per target, both affected by armor penetration. Fun for the whole family!

Strength only affects attack kills. Does NOT affect normal attacks.
