Disappointed by Lion's Arch Armor pickings
Man was I bummed when I got to LA and found that the armor for sale is practically no different than what I could get from the better armorer in post searing Ascelon. Outside of some energy bonuses, or other such particulars, there was no real solid gain.
I guess I'll have to wait even longer for something substantially better. I hope to buy something better from another peep who is hawking armor sales over the chat bar.
Is it just me, or was anyone else a bit down in the selection they found in LA?

You would think that getting to Lion's Arch would yield some cool new things, but no.
I can understand your disappointment. However the Lion's Arch milestone does yield some new things, like the signet of capture, new skills to buy, and a first viewing of guild halls. Just a little further on and you will get better armor available.

That sounds like a scam. You can't wear armor from other players, since it's customized to them.

Uh, you WILL get burned because armors are customized to each individual when crafted, making them useless to sell.
Armors are a big disappointment in this game period. There's simply not enough of them and everybody looks the same. The ones we DO get to choose from are usually all pretty similar in stats, so you really have nothing to look forward to.

I think we should remove the 3rd tier armor crafter from Ascalon City. It'd definitely cut into the twinkage we do, but in the end that's balance, and it would give people something to look forward to once they hit Lion's Arch.

Yeah, I was supprised that Ascelon had two armorers and that the second sold much better stuff. What supprised me more is that I go a fair amount further in the game and found the armor to be no better. It was a killjoy.

LA Is pretty early in the game in the long run, so dont buy their armor. Just use collectors to get your armor, until you reach a decent set. Collectors can be very useful at times ^^

LA is 25% to 20% into the game at best...why should there be killer armor there?!
Also, put your runes in there, more often than not I've exp. salv'd my runes out of my old armor...

I didn't realize it was so little into the game. Wow! Then again, I am working four builds through and that is very time consuming. Therefore, I have played a lot of hours to get three of them past LA. My furthest one is in Divinity Coast.

Hmm, on my first character I bought whatever armor I could afford at each new major city (skipping most minor armor stops like Yak's Bend.) He wasn't able to afford every piece of armor, but it was enough that my armor was constantly upgrading. The differences in armor may initially seem small until you examine how much of a percentage increase it is - going from 40 to 50 armor is a 25% increase in your armor, for instance, but it can easily be scoffed off as "just 10 armor".
Subsequent chars have had no problem always buying everything in each new city, due to that first Monk char being able to farm for gold.
Armor never gets that fancy, but it's not like Guild Wars is a loot-centric game like other MMORPGs. It's your attributes, skill choices, and tactical use of those skills that really matters more than anything. The only loot that's fairly important is weapons, imo.

Why are you playing 4 characters? Did you know after 20 you can respec your seconary profession?

I'm still not sure why the level 13 armors are not available in Lion's Arch, especially with the level 10 stuff in Ascalon City. Sure, it's not a huge upgrade, but why not?
Peace,

I'm doing it because I enjoy it! Each profession is so different, and makes each game feel unique.
Not to mention that I'm building up to compete in PvP, and want to have a variety to contribute to my guild. My guild has around thirty members, so far. When we play, I can pick the character that is needed to fill out the team. Not to mention, also, that if you know how the other builds are played, you can better understand them when you must confront them.

Really. My armor is no better. Heck, I didn't bother to buy much of it for my characters. In Ascelon you can get, say, warrior armor with a 50 armor rating, and the gladiator helm with 55. It is no better in LA. They could have did something with a 60-70 range, for example. Or maybe just take away the better armor in Ascelon, and then the upgrade in LA will seem significant.

In Ettin's Back you'll find some decent armor. It's about 2 missions and a few quests after LA.
