Absolutely terrible AOL-Speak aside, here's the way it breaks down...
Fire - Almost all damage.
Air - Less energy costs, armour penetration but long(er) recharge times
Water - Small amounts of damage, mostly slows and/or weakens
Earth - Defense
It's all up to you how to play it. Personally, when I had my E/Mo I found it kind of fun to do Air/Smiting and focus on knockdowns. Not all that great as an anti-caster but great against warriors if your team knows how to attack targets.
