Do you ever, EVER see, "Group needs ranger". NO.
So I ask you this, is there not something seriously wrong with our class?
Please don't bring PvE into the table. I couldn't care less about PvE.

..........why? To do 50 damage and cause status ailments that they could inflict at lower cost on more people by using bows? Are these those teams that camp their base to defend the priest?

Crippling from barbed trap lasts so much longer than pin down, or even crippling shot. The bleeding is about the same as hunter's shot at equivalent attribs. It's also right there when you need it, pre-paid. Just takes some imagination to get the enemies to walk over them; doesn't take much imagination to see the choke points between enemy warriors and your monks.

I guess I am fairly new to this game, I have a 20ranger/mesmer, 15war/ranger, 10monk/mesmer only. Non have ascended. I have only played in arena and not HoH.
Rangers are the hardest of the classes I have played to use, which means in turn that I wont be as effective with a ranger as I would the other two classes I play.
But that is only down to skill knowledge / interactivity. The ranger skillset seems very diverse to me, I think it will take more time for people to be able to use rangers effectively than it will for most of the other classes. Alot of that is down to design, rangers dont excell at anything in particular in their skillset, but that isn't to say thet CAN'T excel at something if they focus their attributes correctly.
In PVP a ranger in my view should be annoyance, damage provention, cause damage, cause conditions. They probably wont take the most HP, or stop the most HP being taken from their team, but together they could be almost effective as two primaries that specialise in a certain area.
Im drunk. I hope this makes sense.

(cant let topic be ended by a drunk guy)
Rangers are good but no one knows how to use them. They dont have to specialize, they are a Jack-of-All trades, and in being so, they are a support class.
