Mirror Self - BS
OK...
I am a monk mesmer...
I fight my mirror self who hits me for 75 damage PER shot with a bow.
Excuse me?
He hits for 54 with a sword.
Excuse me?
I went in once with no skills equiped - same result...
Anyone got a good explanation for the "cheating" by the mirror self? It sure as heck isn't a mirror of my character.
Game is a joke if the mirror isn't a mirror.

OK... used the ultra cheese empathy and healing brreeze...
Apparently though the devs decided to give the guy uber powers that I don't have they didn't equip him with a brain pan.

maybe that's the plan, to get you to come up with a winning strategy against this powerful but yet stupid mirror.

yes indeed. the quoted text here is the key.
i too encountered this BS, same way original poster did
you see, i did not feel like upgrading my armor at all after i first arrived in post-searing. why waste gold and resources on an "interim" piece of worthless armor, i thought. if i have the cajones to "iron man it" til the forge without having to buy interim armor, then i should be able to save my gold and resources for my final armor, right?
wrong. doesn't work.
because your so-called "mirror" self is not really a mirror at all!
it uses a bow to get a few cheapshots off you at the start. excuse me...but i don't use bows so if it's my "mirror" then it wouldn't have a bow!
even worse, it has different armor than you do! exscuse me, but again if it's a "mirror" then it wouldn't have different armor than you!
if you don't have interim armor, then it's impossible to kill it. it was only after i asked around a lot that i came to this realization. players are forced to waste gold and resources on interim armor just so they can kill their "mirror". that's very bad game design.
everyone (players and devs) really need to stop calling it a "mirror" because that is an inherently false description

No...no its very possible. I went to the forge with full 5al starter armor apart from 1 30al rogue's jacket. Yes it was absolutely horrible. Yes I died in 1 stoning. The mirror?...he's the dumbest piece of AI I've encountered in Guild Wars. Think about it, its an enemy where you get to pick what skills he uses. How could you possibly lose?

I found a really good way if your part mesmer to beat your "mirror", load up some useless enchantments (for me this was the 4 attunement spells - useless because I didn't take any damage spells that use them) and then load up with shatter enchantment.
Bonus points for him spending time casting your damage source, and not shooting at you, so enchantments with a long cast time are preferred.
Just make sure you don't take any healing he will use, and pump dom up to max.

Your decision to not purchase more current armor was your decision alone, based on your desire to be frugal with your money.
You suffered the consequences of your decision by dying very easily to the offensive advantages that your mirror is given.
You blame Anet for your out of date equipment and your inability to find some problem with the mirror AI that allows you to beat it even with your armor disadvantage.

Because your mirror has no brain, he is given more muscles. There are many threads about mirror match and especially about monks. Use the search button and you'll find what you need.
