Air Ele Elite Skill in PVP...
I'm having a tough time deciding whether or not to bring Glimmering Mark or Elemental Attunement to PVP.
Certainly, in PVE Attunement is the way to go, since you effectively double your mana supply, and there have been times in my PVP experience when being able to cast nearly double the amount of spells as another Ele could has been a big difference.
However, there have been times when two warriors immediatly tanked me and killed me before I could kill them, in which case Glimmering Mark would have no only saved me, but allowed me to kill both of them.
I get the feeling that the Attunement is the "selfish" play and not a team/goal oriented skill choice. Then again, in the tombs with multiple Air Eles on my team, we could just as easily have one person spam the Mark and everyone else use Attunement. It's confusing me, heh.
I'm sure the best advice/plan is to confer with my guild/team about which skill set will be best for that particular group, but from a general perspective, I'd like someone to say, "90% of the time Mark is going to be more useful than Attunement" or vice versa.

I personally like to start with my elite and work out from there. It is really tough to take 2 skills and line them up without considering the full build or build objective.

Well, I know that you'd like a direct statement so here it is
50% of the time, Mark will be more useful than Elemental Attunement
So what's that mean? Absolutely nothing. If you're going to PVP then you'll need a organized group. If there's other aeromancers then you have to discuss whois going to use which, you get to decide who uses what so none is really used more than the other.
Also, on a side note, If you don't have a 3rd attribute you might as well make it earth and stick melee ward. It doesn't occupy elite space so it'll work better than glimmering mark.

All the air ele's in my guild use either Elemental Attunement or Ether Renewel.

I would think that glimmering mark would be more usefull in PvE due to the amount of physcical damage dealers/non spell users that you can blind. Elemental attunement imo would be you best bet. However, you might also want to consider an elite from your secondary class.

Thanks for the input. I think I was over stressing in my mind how easily warriors kill me. Then I realized that warriors in Tombs and the Hall aren't prevelent and I'd be better to worry more about how I was going to kill casters, in which case Attunement is way better for that prupose.

Bad. Thunderclap doesn't really belong on a ele primary.

Lightning surge isnt bad if you're going for maximum spike damage.
Echo is good with Chain lightning, that together with arcane echo means you can shoot 3 chains in about 5 seconds, that hurts a lot.

Thunderclap is a huge energy drain on the ele, but if you can afford it, have the elementalist cast it on a monk while a warrior with a lightning dmg weapon hammers on the monk. Continuous knockdown for as long as the ele has energy left.
It's probably the best (and most expensive) form of disabling a target, as long as the hex stays on. Throw it on the ghostly hero as he's running for the HoH altar with 18 seconds left. Hilarity ensues.
