I adore Guild Wars
I love just reading various builds and reading counters for builds on this forum, because that just reinforces just how diverse and complete a game that GW is.
No matter what build you make, theres always a way to beat it, because every build is good, and gets the job done.
The rest is skill, just like they promised

Just like they promised. Except that whoever spends the most times has the most skills and runes which ensure victory in almost every situation. You were falsely advertised to. I think you would have enjoyed beta though.

Weezer you're amazingly negative. The game is based on skill, preperation of course has a large role in that.
An elementalist is'nt going to beat a mesmer reguardless of any amount of runes, or unlocked skills. The mesmers skill is the only factor that can let him down.
The great thing about guild wars is that, while preperation is a factor involved, it's far from the gear / item fest which is games such as many other so called PvP mmorpgs.
The reason there seems to be such an extensive 'preperation' part of the game is to allow there to be somthing other than straight up PvP, other wise players would get 'burned out' from continuesly doing the same thing. Of course the diffrent classes each with and extensive range of skill would make that take quite awhile, but at the same time.. the unlocking / earning items holds a significant merit when acheived.

Yes, theres grind, but theres less grind than in most games. On an off note, did you see the videos from the korean tournament? Some guy running around with the paladin premade, who took down about 4 guys with one monk supporting him. Dont know the details, but theres not much grind in loading up a premade.... i do it all the time. As for the grind itself, well, i think its grind, but i know a lot of people who actually 'enjoy' the pve. i dont get it myself.
