I'll add that the most damage I've done with my warrior was 163 with one hit. You guys can decide if thats powerfull or not.

163 damage is fantastic for a warrior.
If you can do such damage every few swings, you've got yourself a high dps monster... ^_^
Battle Rage + Weaken Armor = tons of fun ^_^

wars aren't weak, they are just not as needed in PvP. You still need them to take the hits, but u dont need a lot of them.

I'll take a hammer in PvP because its knockdown abilities are soo good, just gives you that extra time you need, true that warriors aren't needed much in PvP now, most of the time their just used as shields or distractions for your ele's to pump spikes. A good ranger can spam at a warrior and either a prevent, stop or slow him down on his actions, a good warrior will do quite alot to avoid being stopped for as long as his skills can give. A dumb warrior will bring 5-6 high dmg skills and expect to sprint and slash away at the enemy. Vigorous spirit + live vicarously + cyclone axe wont' do jack but will backfire at you with shatter enchantment
Alot of ppl take swords for final thrust on a monk but seriously it takes alot of adrenaline and monk could easily recover or counter but I do like savage slash, really good sword skill.
One thing that annoys me about alot of warriors is that they are too arrogant and think they can own other classes well...

Hammer W/E spike damage is very nice for warriors, if they can hit
Backbreaker and Aftershock is something to check out if you're sick of playing ele.
Warriors are perfectly fine for pvp. They do high dps and can spike decent and can interrupt well. However, they are also the most counterable class in gw. Blind, ward of melee, shadow of fear, enfeeble, guardian/aegis, snares, etc; warriors get screwed very easily and if you want to do well you have to be able to get around them.

Why do I never see any warriors using balanced stance? No knockdown and no extra damage from criticals. TACTICS for teh win :P
Up against a monk w/ shield of judgement on? Who cares when you have balanced stance up, and you just keep pounding on him and not being knocked down. Who cares about banes, gale, hammer war's, etc.? I've read quite a few warrior threads and this skill is almost never mentioned. Way underrated, IMO.

Warrior isn't WEAK, at all. They have mad DPS and even dmg per atk is comparable to Ele (for example final thrust and many other axe skill)
the bad things about Warrior in GW is that there are too many spells that has abilities to stop a War. Almost Every other class have skills that block, evade, make Warrior atk miss... but again a smart Warrior would take notes and figure out how counter those spells (war's cunning, purge condition...) ... so it's all about the player's skill really. that's what made GW so interesting :P

When I first started PvPing, yeah I would've agreed right away that warrios are absolutely terrible. After playing a few matches I realized that bringing in the same skills that I used in PvE was just dumb.
It doesn't take much to make the warrior not suck. You just have to have timing, and watch your health, conditions, and what you're enemy is about to do. Once I get that monk to about half health they're going to start healing themselves, my instinct tells me Savage Slash because they're going to heal. If it's a good monk, they'll stand their ground and get another healing spell away. Others, will run, at which time I Rush/Bull Strike them to death.
If I'm blind, weakened, enemy has shield of judgement (or whatever its called), I'll use my hexes (I'm a w/n). Life Transfer and Life Siphon. Foolish monks will remove the Life Siphon right away, leaving no immediate cure for the Life Transfer that I cast second until seconds later when the full of effect of the spell has already gone through. Crippled, switch targets. I don't care if I'm not targeting who everyone is attacking I'm going to hit something. No use chasing after something not even my Rush can catch up to.
The only problems I find I run into are the other idiots. Those who call a target and I'm the only one attacking it. That is when I feel weak. That, and when my moron character doesn't have the common sense to walk around enemies in his way to get at his target.
I've been thinking of trying something new. Bringing with me a hammer on one of my weapon sets and having one or two knockdown skills set. I wouldn't do much damage, but it would disrupt the spell and as a warrior that's the role I play.

Who ever claimed Warriors were anything but decent (or better) in PvP? o_O
On hammers - definitely go for the knock-lock. That's about all they're good for. But they do it pretty well.

Hmmmm i dont see why you should be class bashing. I think every class in this game has the potential to be great. You should'nt say warriors are crap because of the actions of 1 unexperienced warrior... And as for your build its not my cup of tea i prefer to have atleast one of each class by my side in PvP
just another so called "meatheads" opinion

Most war/mo's suck because theyre healing based, and think that bringing healing spells along will help them, aka the monks job. warriors are very good at disrupting casters with savage slash and disrupting chop. Plus 90% of the time when i engage an elementalist in pvp, they run for the high hills. and if i rember correctly from playing an ele, u cant attack and run at same time. so a war with sprint on ur ass=your worthless.
The reason most wars suck is because they target monks first. Monks sit there and take it cuz theyre badasses like that. leave the monks to sit on their thumbs and let the mesmers drain their energy. its not hard to deprive a monk of 43-60 in about 3 seconds.
Hammer warriors are the under rated class. That is the warrior u stick on a monk and tell the monk find a nice place on the ground and stay there. Screw ele light surge. With a War/E using aftershock, devestaing hammer, counterblow ,hammer bash and heavy blow, flurry, and to the limit and 1 open slot for ur choice, the person u are targeting is NOT gettin up, for a looong time.

He wasn't bashing them.
He was trying to "defend" them.
Which made me ask why there is a need to defend a class that nobody picks on anyways.

Hammer Bash and Heavy Blow both drain the rest of your adrenaline away.
I was thinking something like, Dev Hammer -> Crushing Blow -> Heavy Blow -> Thrill of Victory -> Shock -> Regular Swing -> Gale
With Stone Gauntlets, you can swing at them once while they're on their ass, And the next swing coming in is right about when they get on their feet.

Shock and Gale both cause exhaustion, so if you cast both of those, you're war's max energy will be 0.
Judge's Insight on a hammer warrior ftw.

I must say that I've played W/Mo and was very effective at it, I just got bored with it. You can do some excellent damage if you focus on knockdown skills with the hammer and bring bathazaar's aura (pump up your smiting). So for 10 seconds every foe around me would take 25 per second plus fending off the hammer. This can be very effective if you know WHEN to do it. The Aura takes up so much energy, you need to make sure you don't need it immediately for anything else.

I been at the game alongtime as a warrior monk and I did realize alongtime ago the huge difference in skills needed from pve to the pvp game. In the pvp I use a set of purge condition, rebirth and then go from my elite skill down in offensive. I may remove the rebirth but I am usually the last one standing so I have to revive alot but hopefully this will change as we get some more monks at a higher level.
I am still experimenting but have found the attack monk thing is not the only way to win. I am not saying warriors are not easy to disable as I have been hit with most of em over the learning period....but each class has a role to play.
I think the trouble is most warriors when they get more powerful and ascend soon feel god like in the pve game and think it will naturally move to the pvp the same. Wrong- as someone said there is no need for tanks in pvp but working together with the team they can be a good ally in battle.
