I must admit I hate PvE, so that I rush everything and put little effort in it. I was trying to ascend with my Monk/Necro (lvl16) a while ago...but failed miserably. I read somewhere that I should use smiting skills to UBER PWN HIM.

The fact is I just tried and I didn't uber pwn him, not even close. Is that plain bullshit or what? And if so, how can I kill my Doppleganger with my monk who is just a typical boon healer?
My skills were Healing Touch, Scourge Healing, Price of Failure, Pacifism, Retribution, Holy Wrath and Balthazar's Aura. Since (Doppelganger my ass) he's not really similar to me (why do they even call it Doppelganger? DoppelUber would be better), he could deal solid 55 dmg with his mysterious Chaos Axe, he just outdamaged me, while his HP dropped by a half. People keep saying "hey, he's stupid, he always stands still in the middle of AoE spells"...well, I'm no elementalist and seemingly he's not stupid enough to heal, even though his HP were dropping fast. So, scourge healing was useless.

Usually I hate people who brag about killing the mirror self (mostly because 70% of the cases it's plain bullshit), and I'm now looking for the 30% who brags about it and doesn't say BS.

Any hint on how to beat my UBER mirror self would be highly appreciated.

why don't you put in necro spells that cause a sacrifice of health. he can't use healing breeze. banish is the skill to use. i put all my res and useless skills in the bar. i also backed up while attacking and casting spells. I had a mes/monk and only use the monk skills.

Actually it IS a breeze to go through there.
He doesn't use healing breeze so you can just outheal him. And that is almost all about winning there. Put in some smiting (at least around 11) and high healing prayers (for that 8 or 9 health regen).

I did kill him with the following skillsetup:

Healing Breeze
Balthazars Aura
Symbol of Wrath
Retribution

Done
That's it. You don't really need more skills.
I kicked in retribution before i went in. As soon as i were there i cast healing breeze on myself and went close engage on him. Activated Balthazars Aura and waited until it wore off, activated symbol of wrath - reactivated healing breeze. Dead Doppelganger.

As you are a Necromancer as your second profession, take Badensteins hint on taking a lot of health sacrificing spells. He'll just kill himself and make the combat even more easy.

Incredible.

No friggin way.

Curses are as effective as spitting him in the face and if you use smiting skills he will just attack you less, or outdamage you anyway.

EDIT: I finally defeated him, for a simple reason: there is no such great tactics involved, only some skills that the AI won't use, or won't use as often as you do. Very little strategy involved, as I thought.

you don't use the curses and blood spells, you only have them in the bar so HE uses them. And yea, no skill involved beating doppleganger. just use exploits.. LOL

This isn't flaming you, but the mere fact that one must determine what skills aren't used as often by the mirror or which skills to bring that will give them victory........IS strategy.

Well I beat my mirror in about 11 seconds with My air Ele, but i can imagine the epic battle with 2 monks... id just leave my computer afk and see who got healed to death when I come back.

Anyway, Drop your healing spells, Your doppel only carrys the ones you do. Your half necro, do what I did, bring a ton of sacrifical spells and watch him kill himself..and then just pop on a symbol of wrath..that should kill him

I killed my doppleganger first try, with the skills I used in the previous mission. Wasnt very hard.

I don't think these forums are the place for you. I'd recomend you calm down and get with the program or you won't be here long. It is not an exploit if the game designers programmed it that way. If the mirror played perfectly it would never lose, and no one would ever ascend.

That's just about what I had, too. But, I think I had Banish as well with a couple of other crap spells to take up room (like resurrects). Monk really isn't too hard

I know your new to GW. In case you haven't noticed, PvP is the core of this game. Not beating the mirror in some supremely strategic way. People that whine and complain about "exploits" are simply misguided. In the only important part of the game(PvP) there are none, or very very few exploits.

My Guild is ranked between 100 and 150, so I'm not an Idiot Savant but I'm definitely not new to the game and I do know that PvP is the core of it, since I'm rank 4 and I held the HoH a decent amount of times.
This is my third PvE char and its the first time I ascend as a primary monk.

You're probably new to the forums though, because trying to bring someone down and failing so miserably is quite typical with the newcomers.

Your the only one flaming, and boasting. I simply don't see why you put so much effort into a discussion about a realtively minor part of the gme.
