Warriors are meatshields?
When did it happen? I know it was a long time ago, in a game far far away.
Why did it happen? It makes me sad too.
Are not warriors master of up close, in your face fighting? With both the weapons and armor and the know how of how to put the weapons and armor to good use?
Warriors have a weakness. Magic. That was the balance to thier great melee prowess. Ranged damage too, in a sense, they have shields to guard against arrows, but only so so. If a warrior can't get close to the magic user, he dies. Can't catch that ranged damage person, death.
A magic users weakness? Melee combat. Magic users deal with warriors by blasting them, summoning minions to fight for them, and controling the actions of warriors, ect. A warrior gets close to a magic user, death generally follows. Unless the magic user has defensive magic on himself and he can atempt to get away from the warrior. If he can't death.
In everquest, world of warcraft, and others, warriors have become damage sponges. They deal damage, but not a great deal espescially if they are main tank(oh how I hate that term). (i understand in WoW you can configure you warrior to be more damage dealer than tank, but I find WoW dull, just my opinion though).
In Guild Wars, there is no taunt. Good, hate that ability. Calling a dumb lizard a poo head is really going to make it mad, lol.
Guild Wars has monsters that don't care if your in armor looking to ruff them up, they go for the soft targets. A warriors job is to stop them, hurt them bad enough that they turn to deal with the warrior, not be swayed by insults with name calling or "the finger", basicly taunting. I also like that 2 or 3 warriors can get in front of the soft targets to protect them, thats warrioring, "Get behind us! We'll keep them engaged!!" "Ok, we'll keep you healed and buffed!". That's what I want to hear.
If the monsters get by, then a warrior's got to be able to deal that damage to either kill them or get thier attention(hmm, think I said this already)
In short, Warriors are not damage sponges, they are Warriors. Can we keep them that way.
Somewhere, far away, Conan sheads a tear.

That basicly is my point.
Warriors have armor, able to take the damage.
And a weapon and skill to deal the damage too.
They don't wield weapons made of foam rubber.

no you, are wrong.
it shames me to say but warriors are the most pathetic class out there, only usefull to take damage to keep spellcasters alive.
when we get to the higher levels i see with my Ele's very spamable flare i do almost 2 times damage on every hit.
the warriors are easily made uselss with blind, weaken, and cripple (cant catch casters), and although they have nice shiny armor, it is nothing when you are poisoned, diseased, and have things like life siphon and life transfer and conjure phantasm.
i love my warrior i really do but he is nothing if he doesnt have a steady flow of Mend Ailment being thrown on him

I second that My E/N is almost 2.5 levels stronger than my W/Mo... at level 10 she was easily breezing from piken to Nolani while my warrior still was having a bit of a hard time. I am not trying to bash any classes since I pretty much have played most of them (I have a lev 20 W/mo, a lev 12 E/N and a lev 4 Me/R), but I have observed that other classes are somewhat more powerful, but also harder to play

Effects, hmmm, yeah effects stop damage. They also stop an Elementalist's, Mesmer's, Monk's, Necro's, and Rangers damage too. They also stop these classes abilities.
Remember, Warriors are up there taking these effects so you don't have to, waiting for teamates to remove them. If your elementalist gets hit with a energy draining spell away goes your ability to do damage, it's nice when that spell is removed.
After the effects are dealt with, they do damage again. Just like when the energy damping spell is gone if you follow.
And remember, I said casters have spells to keep warriors away. Cripple is one of them. Rangers have it too, pin down.
What I'm trying to say is Warriors are not just meatshields. This isnt about tactics, this isn't about Guild Wars Warriors, this isn't about shutting down a Warrior. This is about a class that thast has gone from melee powerhouse to a meatshield. From melee damage dealer and melee damge taker to just a big shield that can't deal damage and relie on others to kill for them.
Now, are you breezing through from Picken Square to Nolani alone? Me? I took friends or henchies if the need arose. Didnt take long either.

most warrior players can't adapt to a changing environment. you see alot of anti warrior skills flying around, yet most dont do anything about it.
most Warrior's dont use their secondary to assist them. the most popular combination is a W/mo, yet alot of them dont bring skills that help them get rid of the things that hurt them.

That's odd, my impression was that Warriors were there to take out healers and casters. and to protect their's. I've hardly ever seen anyone attack the warriors first.

is it just me or shuld the whole world of kryta be destroyed by now??
Like cmon theres so many strong enemies and barely any strong allies. How hasnt this place been totally overun and al;l the humans destroyed????
i hope in expansion they have some larger scale battles just for the hell of it instead of 5 heros vs everyone why not 5 heros and a whole army of allys.
Lord of the rings style. In my opinion they shuld ditch monks all together and just make us all stronger.

Listen this is an open shut case....... Warriors are ment to take dmg yet they only deal good dmg to casters. So people basically became smart, they skipped over the wars and went after the casters. The wars job is to kill the casters right? Well people became even smarter by healing whoever is being hit......and also using protective spells. The only good war is a knockdown war the end!

Haha, I miss the days of Tactics Ogre when Brezerkers wore no armor and used axes to do slightly less damage than casters.
Warriors turned into unarmed walking suits of armor around the time of Everquest, as far as I know. They're actually much better damage dealers in GW than they are in most RPGs these days.

/sigh
Wow. Just wow.
A well built warrior is the best damage dealer out there. In PvP they can easily deal 70 damage per hit--which is a much better DPS than any ele. And guess what, unlike eles, they don't run out of steam one minute into battle.
On conditions:
A good team will remove the conditions quickly. And, how does cripple not affect casters? I've never seen a crippled caster run awy before they died. On the rest of the "conditions" (life siphon, life transfer, and conjure fanatisism aren't conditions) you listed, they affect casters also. Not to mention the casters are usually the first targets.

Obviously warriors are the harder class to play for you. Why? See above.]

i want sum1 to make a game where you can only be warriors, archers or cavalry. and have large scale battle like in the middle ages. why no1 hasnt made a game like this is strangte cus it would kickass. You build up your own army in a larhe scale map of the whole of europe. You start out as a simple peasant but as you work your way thhru you can become th greatest ruler of all time.
Or am i just crazy

... I don't understand. I feel like a rampaging beast in PvP sometimes because noone even bothers to blind/weaken me. Everyone brings all this crap to spike casters dead, yet forget that a warrior with the right setup can pump out 50-100 damage hits every swing continously! And screw Wa/Mo's, I've found them all incompetent. If I was a Wa/Mo, I would bring mend ailment and remove hex or the likes. But I'm not, I'm a Wa/E. I understand nobody gives a damn about warriors and ignores them, so I've made myself into the ultimate "Balls to the wall" offensive machine. No protections, no healing, no defensive stances. If you ignore me, I will kill you in 7 seconds flat if you fail to get healed or start to pay attention to me and do something about it. I rely on my monks to remove conditions if need be. Otherwise, I swing my sword.
I like all this "Warriors suck" mumbo jumbo, it just reinforces peoples false beliefs that warriors really do suck. Next time you're lying on the ground staring at the sky with a big pointy thing sticking from your chest, don't start wondering if Air Elementalists have started to use swords.
