so recently in the hall of heroes ive battled teams with 8 monks and they have destroyed us everytime.. so does anyone have any idea on how to beat them??

The question you pose is interesting because in a previous "Spotlight on Guilds", there was one particular group that used all monks.
According to the information given, they found that the build didn't work because of a lack of firepower.
I don't have the specific information to give you as I'm at work right now.
Check it out though.
Along with your question I'll ask one as well.
Was this a PuG or Guild effort when you got beat by the all monk team.

Spread out up and keep moving. 8 monks always rely on PBAoE damage, so if your team scatters and keeps on the move, that cuts down on their firepower by a ton. Not only do they need to catch up to you for balthazar's aura to do something, but they need to stand still for zealot's fire to work. It could get nasty if you bunch up and they use signet of judgement.

So just split up, start killing, and run if they come after you. Healing seed does wonders here because it cuts a big chunk off their AoEs, and they don't have any spiking abilities. Your team should be carrying hexes that punish/prevent healing, enchantment removal and such, so just go about killing them the way you normally would.

I was actually in a PUG of all monks before and we won like 4 straight battles in Tombs. What ended up killing us was a team with 6 warriors and 2 monks. Pathetic, yes, but we just weren't set up for a team so one sided. It lasted forever, but in the end they got us.

A team of 8 Elmos might do well with all that extra energy. I'd have to try it though.

ya it was a guild and i know were not supposto post names so lets just say they win alot lately, and my group is usually 3 mo's, 1 war, and 4 ele's, and whover said a team of mesmers??? u battle more that 1 team on the way to the hall of heroes...

Precisely why bringing 8 monks there would be difficult. Get a corpse on the dias, be it a pet, or someone from your team, and use well of the profane. They lose their ability to enchant anyone, which means no bonds, no seed, and no offensive enchantments.

Unfortunatly you are forgetting that setting up to just kill an 8 monk team leaves you very dead. You are not set to deal with anything but that team.

Also to the guy that said you have to stand still for zealots fire to work. No you dont you only have to stand still to cast something. But if I zealots fire my runner and spamm skills on him he doesnt have to stand still. also Balthazars aura can be cast by anyone on anyone in the team. So you are going to have a hard time trying to run and get anything done yourself. Because if the monks need to stand still to do something so do you. Also you ppl forget that monks still have 2nd profs you need to know what they are as well before you can just say bring 7 mesmers and a spiker what is all monks are mesmers as well that can pretty null your team out.

Also chances are they weren't all, all smiting monks. I'm sure some were healing and some were protection.

anyways thats just my rant about it.

Skill of 16 means 75 damage per hex taken off when U use shatter. 6 hexes off in one hit = 450 damage all at once. Hard to heal when you go from live to dead in one shot.

A ranger to block their rezzes.

Shatter delusions now only removes the most recent mesmer hex. It used to work the other way during the BWEs, but was too powerful.

Unless I'm mistaken, shatter delusions only removes 1 hex at a time, and has a 10 second cooldown... How are you supposed to shatter 6 hexes at once? Even if you used arcane echo to copy it, that is still only 2 at a time. How the hell are u supposed to take someone from full health to dead when your 2 hits do 150?

Interesting one...

I don't actually know myself, but Mesmers seems to be the general opinion (I haven't used Mesmer as a profession before). Having eight Monks sounds like a good idea in theory; I may take that idea from theory to practice.

My guild decided to mess around in HoH one day with an all-healing monk team. Almost no damage at all other than our wands (keep in mind that we were doing this purely as a joke). We thought we'd either get owned or survive so well that we or the other team would leave after about 10 minutes. Well somehow we were able to not only stay alive (obviously) but do a little damage too. We won 4 or 5 fights before we were taken out in about two hits.

Keep in mind that Monks are useless when they're knocked down. Meteor Shower can do wonders, especially if they're close together.

Nature renewal. Quicking zephyr. Spirits in general. Choking gas etc.

That's how you beat them. Natures renewal 100% longer to enchant? Half the enchantments in the same time period. Hard luck monks. 8 monks.. no melee damage really? Quickening zephyr. 30% less spells

Mesmers go without saying. Evena necro with soul leech. Or defile flesh etc.

a couple of monks to reduce the damage from smitin monks / a couple of mesmers preferably shutdown ones /and couple of warriors hammer ones cause of knockdown and couple of eles a earth and air one should do and then you still have a balanced group /and maybe a ranger instead of a warrior for frozen soil and other nature rituals

thats the easiest way ( i think)

It doesn't require any special type of group at all actually. All you have to do is make a healing ball. Your entire group should get together and just throw 2 seeds on whoever in the group (which is a very standard spell that every monk should have). Healing seed > then smite. Then just beat the piss out of anything that comes near your group. It might take a bit longer then normal to win, but even morons can win using this tactic against them as long as you stay together.....
