Smiter Build Mo/Me or Mo/??
I am trying to walk myself through these two combinations.
The Mo/Me line would be nice because the Mesmer line has a bunch of 5-0-X type spells to trigger
Hex Breaker 5-0-5: 60 to 156 seconds the next time you are a target of a hex, that hex fails and the caster takes 10-39 damage (would stop backfire as it takes 20 to refresh)
Distortion 5-0-5: for 5 seconds, you have a 75% chance to evade attacks. Whenever you evade an attack this way, you lose 3-1 Energy or Distortion ends.
There are also several mantras that increase armor or resistance that are 10-0-20 or 15-0-20
I am thinking that using Zealot's Fire with these could work really well since there is no cast time it would be a real quick spamming of the damage.
What are the other options out there...

Frankly I think a necro/monk or monk/necro would do great. In fact, I started one just the other day!
I use blood skills to drain life and gain it too! This negates the fact that a smiter won't have much as far as healing skills.
At lvl 8 I have(still in the Ascelon area): vampiric gaze, life siphon, banish, resurrect, bane signet, symbol of wrath, vampiric touch, soul barbs.
He mows down char and can take a beating as well. three of these skills heal you as they take damage. With a good energy boosting item, you can run down the line and knock them out! With the necro primary, I get soul reaping which grants me a return on my energy for each kill(amount depending on the attribute level).
My attribute points are in blood, smite, and soul reaping.
So I think some variation of monk/necro, necro/monk would be a killer smite combo, IMHO.

If you smithe use USEFULL triggers, meanin that whatever skill you trigger a smithe is actually usefull for your ally!
it doesnt help using a skill just to do damage and drink energy.

Decided to go with Mo/E for the smiter...
as Ollj said when you are a smiter you want to trigger the smite of the skills that come later. Keeping this in mind I am planning on going 12 in divine (that way every monk skill I use on myself will result in +32 health) The Elementalist will allow me to have some additional AOE early on before getting the better smiting skills.
The debate for me ended up being Mo/Me with the stances the Mesmer is nice and you get great benefit from the stances with no point investment or the Elementalist due to the glyphs. The Glyphs are very nice due to the low cost 5 points each and they have some great affects.
I was originally concerned about energy, but the original glyph helps alot with that.

i found every class with my monk absolutely useless. the synergy of the monk spells are so good you don't need a 2nd class. my bar is all monk spells and i go where ever when ever solo.
