You have 530 HP with a full set of 80 Armor Armor. Hmm. I don't understand why you should be getting hit for that much, the only thing I've encountered in the game that's thwacked me for more than I bargained for was a Smoke Phantom. I have 543 HP and my armor is 4 piece 65 and 2 piece 71. I have a health bonus on my sword AND shield that don't require stance or enchanting or anything. It's hard to discover what actually might be wrong but Jello has made a really good point there. I actually test out my armor on what I think are the nastiest of baddies (at whatever level) which are Stingers. That's how I came to the mix of Gladiator and Ascalon. Believe it or not I take less Damage with part gladiator than I do full Ascalon.
So yeah test a few things out. I've seen posts about people moaning that they're not good enough before, but you are using the right skills and armor and tactics to try and play the game. Id be very interested to meet up with you in the game to see what happens. My in game char is Ayhra Eyahl (er... I THINK that's how you spell it )

It does sound like a bug. Maybe you can take a picture when you receive the damage and submit it to ANet so they can take a look at it?

Save your advice for yourself. Warrios have a self heal anyway, it doesn't even require energy like MONK heals do. Research a bit before you make such stupid comments.
I play a W/E and I LOVE it. You get the strength of a warrior, but because you can cast Area Attack spells, it makes life more easier. I use my healing signet and endure pain at the moment to buff myself over 700 HP. I haven't even got 80 armor yet, it's mostly 71 or 65 still.
Sounds to me like you might just have accidently picked skills and armor that allow you to take that sort of damage, or deffinately there's a bug.
I use Ascalon armor in part because of the reduced dmg from attack extra, a minor vigor rune on my Gladiator skirt for that same extra, and a major absorbtion on my Gladiator chest piece. I choose Gladiator because it gives me more energy for my damage spells.

Read what you have written and tell me you do not take this game too seriously.

But I have a few questions:
1. Where can I get "Victory Is Mine"?
2. Is Riposte/Deadly Riposte any good?
3. Is there any way I can get more attribute points after reaching level 20?

Victory is mine can be aquired from Witman's Folloy, from Sakalo Yipyawl, he is a Grawl, and it is one of those skills you'll most likely have to work for,
http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/s...721#post135721
That link should help you get ViM
There are 2 quests to get +15 attributes (each)
---- Furthermore ---
This post was disgusting to read, the pure better-then-you attitude of some people ...sheesh.
There is nothing wrong with a W/E in PvE, even a Fire based focus wielding one, I played the game that way all the way up till ascension with absolutely no problems what so ever...
Walk into pile of monsters, pbaoe (thats point blank Area of Effect) and then my group has alot less monsters to deal with.
I not once loaded healing signet into my bar past level 9ish, and I never had a way to heal myself, granted I had to rely on sometimes sucky healers, but I got my job done, help the group drop the monsters fast.
For Ascension, like everyone has told you, I switched to earth, it was a bit easier for my groups with ward against the elements, magnetic Blade, armor of earth, and a res signet, I did turn the tide well.
W/E earth with a good monk backing him/her up is the best PvE tank in the game, even better then the W/Mo's -- oh yeah I said it.
In PvP I had some doubts about W/E's viablity, I need to do some more extensive testing of ViM'("Victory is mine!")
So for the time being I switched to W/N and I am liking that, but I will oneday go back I'm sure.
***mirrior image spoiler don't read if you don't want to know***
Your Mirrior image will be easy as a W/E Grab a Fire/ice/Lightning Wand, use the only load the appropriate conjure and flurry int your bar -- grab shield, you win by spamming Flurry/conjure

I figured it out, well I think I did. Assuming that Stoning and Whirlwind hit the head, that would be the reason.
... I wasn't wearing a helmet...
Well, I bought an 80 armor Platemail Helmet (dyed silver ) and went to fight some Thorn Stalkers. 18 damage baby!

nope. you just got it while the thread starter did not.
BTW earth magic matches nicer to a primary warior.

I'm at the Crystal Desert trying to do the Ascension missions, but I just can't do it because I die so quickly. I end up with a 60% death penalty half way into just about every mission I attempt. One time, I was doing the mission at Elona's Reach, and I would take 222 damage for everytime I got hit by the Stoning spell!!! I think my equipment is pretty decent: 80 armor Ringmail Hauberk, 66 armor Stonefist Gauntlets, 80 armor Ringmail Leggings, 71 armor Gladiator Boots. Maybe it's my skills? Sprint, Power Attack, Sever Artery, Gash, Final Thrust, Galrath Slash, Whirlwind, Gale. I'm using 3 main attributes: Air Magic-5, Strength-11, Swordsmanship-11. I also have a Fiery Dragon Sword of Fortitude with 15-22 damage and Health+20 (boosting my max health to 500), and a Shadow Shield with 16 armor (req. 11 strength).
What am I doing wrong?
|
Ascension mission are meant to do it as a team, never charge into battle alone, even for warrior, you can die within 10 seconds.
Maybe you're just doing it without...or with bad monks
Monks usually start out with Divine Favor + Healing prayer, but later in the game, this healing won't be enough anymore...monk's have to combine protection prayer and healing prayer to keep up with the damage.
make sure to have 2 monks on your team, or at least 1 monk and a trapper (healing spring can actually be more effective than monk's healing prayers)

Everous, I almost ALWAYS sprint and avoid when traveling to the next town. I don't have problems with that, it's when I HAVE to fight, that I'm having trouble.
th15, that sounds like a good idea. Where can I get this hundred blades skill?
shazbawt, I do have a shield, and I wear it. I'm not trying to be a caster, I only have 2 elementalist skills.
Xellos, that's exactly what I don't understand! I don't know if it's some sort of weakness to an element my character has that I don't know about, or if maybe it's just a glitch, but it's not right.

First, read the skill description. You were using Gale, I'd keep away from anything that has exhaustion in it if I was a warrior. One use and you are down 10 energy for 30 seconds. Not worth it.
Second, if you want defense pump up earth magic. Go with wards and armor of earth, and aftershock. I'd also consider switching to Hammer.
After doing so, I'd redistribute your attribute points. Get some stances with Tactics like Bonetti's, Balanced etc... it'll save your life. You might go the following:
11 Hammer
9 Earth
8 Strength
8 Tactics
I'm not going to tell you what hammer skills to bring, but I'll help you with your defense as that is what you need most I think.
Balanced Stance - You can't be knocked down and you don't suffer criticals.
Bonetti's Defense - 75% Block Melee + Arrows, 5 energy gained per block
Armor of Earth - Suffer only roughly 30% of normal damage (80 AL + 46 AOE)
Ward Against Melee/Element - 50% chance miss melee or +24 AL element.
Sprint - Get you out of danger 25% movement.
Giving you three attacks regardless of what weapon you take. Four if you drop wards for more damage output with Aftershock.
Lastly, I'd recommend going Gladiators for 26 total energy. You don't need a shield with the buffs/stances, I routinely can solo Hydras with just Alesia or preferably a elemental/monk. Your buffs allow you take on a LOT however you can't heal yourself as war/elem so... but heal other, healing breeze etc... and the extra firepower an elemental brings is very nice.
Cheers!

I really think that he should'nt change his secondary to monk because they die almost just as fast as without monk as secondary. I see way to many w/mo everywhere. If he changes I suggest he change to whatever he wants, be it a monk or not(though i'd rather not see him change at all).

I've been playing a War/E since day 1, not to mention beta. I've since maxxed out all his armors, beat the game etc... But I have found that Earth Warriors are... how to say this, Godly in PvP. Shield ? Who said wear a shield. Screw that pidly 16 ac and trust in your monk, hold a focus item. Earth Armor spells ? What ? Drop them too. You're a backline, caster killing monster. Wa/Mo stepped in front of you ? Knock him down, beat his ass, make him cry for mommy. Or avoid him altogether, they bring protection and healing spells, he ain't no threat to you. Stay focused on your objective, killing elementalists, mesmers, necros and monks. They can't run! They will all die in in your furious assault! Wa/E forever!
Ok seriously though, think of it like this. Wa/Mo is a defensive warrior, they focus on surviving with heals or using protection prayers (yes, yes, the occassional tricky one is a smiter). Wa/E is an offensive warrior who survives by killing his opponent so he stops doing damage to him. Don't waste your precious slots on mixing in defensive stances etc.. open it up, go all out with offense. You won't regret it. Especially if you have a good monk backing you up. PvE is easy as a Wa/E with the right group. PvP is awesome as a Wa/E if you have a good guild.

The Snowman is also a Warrior elementalist, and using NEARLY the same skills you have picked...
and yes..
They are indeed squishy!
However.. using frenzy.. a zealous sword, and very well timed skill activation you have the potential to do ALOT of damage VERY quickly....
The side effect unfortunatly is a self sacrificing one! - My advice is, ALWAYS make sure you have a monk - 2 if you can... and always let the monk know that you are squishy!
use 'ENDURE PAIN' to prolong your death as much as you can.. if you can prolong it then you give the monk those PRECIOUS few seconds to get another heal on you.
I must say, I LOVE the idea of the W/E and think the article on this site about it is excelent.
Yes, there are easyer warrior builds, but I would encourage you to continue with trying to make a sucess of a character type like this.... yes you die alot, but you learn alot too!.. dont see dying as a negative thing, accept the fact... and try going ALL OUT to kill one main target.. image the W/E as the 'Queen Sacrifice' tactic in a game of chess... hold back, use an air wand to build up adrenaline.. then when you identify this most problematic target... Kamikaze into it.

With a decent monk and no wor

sorry should have read this post first...
I disagree with most of what your saying Belac, your basically telling him to forget the character type he has chosen and go for a completly different one.
That maybe good advice if this TYPE of character does suit him, but there are flaws in some of your reasons... GALE for example doesnt cost 10 but 5.. and recharges VERY quick... possibly my most used skill, an enemy cant do anything while his/her ass is on the floor.. its NO good being able to to MASSIVE QUICK DAMAGE if your target is constantly running away.
Gale should be the staple move for any W/E (if used correctly)
I would encourage everyone to read http://www.guildwarsguru.com/content...w-3-id1190.php
and read it ALL
