Spirit question...
Just a spradic odd thought popped into my head with all the friendly banter about ranger spirit groups...
What happens if you mix Greater Conflagration and Winter? GF converts all physical damage to fire, Winter all elemental to cold...

Hexes. Health degeneration/conditions are not affected by those spirits.

Yeah, frankly I don't believe you either. You must have been facing inexperienced guilds. Btw, Darkrouge, NR wipes hexes, and many teams (not just spirit teams) bring martyr. :-/

So you gonna kill a good team only by health degeneration? Amazing.
health degen can be annoying but how much health degen can you stack on multiple targets?
bleeding and poison can be removed by martyr or draw condition spam by a secondary monk.
only hexes are a 'problem' but with NR it takes quite a while to spread them
No, really - how can you beat a good team only with health degen?
IMHO the answer to spirit spam is alway: try to kill the most important spirits. ATM nothing else is really working.

Small, fast, steady damage will still kill teams with that combo. Rangers or warriors are naturally the best option. Other than that, there are always types of damage other than physical and elemental. Holy damage from smiters, Chaos damage from mesmers and whatever type of damage Necro damage is (is it even a type of damage?) won't be effected by this combo and still do full damage.
And, of course, just killing the spirits always works.

This combo has been around since the beta's.......it was even in the pre-order handbook. LOL
I have used it, it works very good with NR and mass condition removal. If the monks have prot bond on a few people they will gain alot of energy from the mantra.

I Will Never Break Your Heart is a bad guild? When they were rank 38 (we were something like 110 when we beat them, so they lost a lot of rank) we demolished this setup. If it weren't for there NPCs they would have been gone in 10 mins. Plus, we run a balanced build when we gvg.
Mantra of Frost is an enchantment, that means it is easily stripped, and its recharge is long enough that it's impossible to keep up at all time with the target being stripped whenever it comes up.
kthnx stfu

Mantra of Frost is a Stance, not an enchantment. It can't be stipped except by 1 warrior skill.
It's a common and very very overrated combo though. Mesmers, Necros, and Smite Monks do armor ignoring damage, as do some Elementalist spells. You can try it if you want, but it's nowhere near as good as it sounds on paper.

Woops, my mistake, I was playing healing monk at the time so I didnt really need to worry about this. One thing we did do was disrupt there casts of winter and take down the rangers with winter quickly.
Edit: Lingering Curse and Defile Flesh help negate winter.

On a side note.. Necromancers deal, (typically), shadow damage.
