Warrior VS Ranger
Not in the conventional sense.. I'm making a new char, and I want to know what would be better for a secondary. These are the things I'm looking for in my secondary class:
a. attack speed
b. survivability/healing
This is all I care about, I'm not going to use my secondary for anything else. Which class would you side with, and why?

You didn't even say what your primary and overall purpose is.
Ranger secondary is easily the worst overall of any others because most ranger skills require high expertise. Doesn't mean don't choose it but you really need a good reason to.
Frenzy vs TF. Mana hog and skill lockdown vs double damage. If you will be a frontliner and can sustain mana loss, TF. If you won't get hit much, Frenzy.
Defense/Healing. Tactics>Ranger stances in pure depth and usefulness.

Well I purposefully left that out.. to cut down on the number of flames I would recieve. For my intentions, I'd go with flurry vs TF... I'm considering ranger because of the troll unguent, but that would mean BM for TF, and wilderness for that.... I don't know.

Well you see, by not giving information, we can't really be too much of help. Troll Unguent is one of the worst skills in the game in lots of situations, primarily being organized PvP or even organized PvE, where it functions as a much worse version of Healing Breeze. On the other hand, in certain situations, like random arena, it is acceptable and needed, though still not very good.

Omg. It seems that very few of you know why a ranger/warrior is so dominating. First of all. Its NOT about raw dmg. Apply poison + cyclone axe. Bam. Thats mass spreading poison. Throw in the CONSTANT use of Tigers Fury...lets see a warrior do that....and you will dominate. Not to mention other great stances. WHIRLING DEFENSE... When you are being mass targeted slap on whirling defense/drydars depending on the situation. When you arent being attacked use Tigers Fury and get Deep woulds and poison on the enemy as fast as possible. I find that this build can tank ELEMENTAL dmg hella better than any warrior. This comes from the +30 ele defense on the ranger armor. Also, to counter the physical dmg, you would just use whirling defense or other stances that can block.

Tiger's Fury is practically unplayable at 10 energy. Frenzy is the only realistic attack speed buff (unless you're using IW, then Flurry is playable)
For defense, Tactics will fit in seemlessly while the Ranger offers little.
Warrior is generally a much better secondary, and I don't see any reason to take Ranger over it for your purposes.
Peace,

Those are good points, Ensign, thanks for the reply. I was kind of forgetting I wouldn't have expertise as a ranger secondary.. that makes it a lot tougher. And Wilymo, maybe you should have read the topic first. XD
Ah well, you made me laugh.

Another thing to consider with the warrior line is neither frenzy nor flurry have attributes and many of the tactics skills can be reasonably used with few to no points in them. If you go ranger you'll suffer from high energy costs and dramatic point spreads. It would probably help if we knew your primary class though

Um....because with expertise at 9 you can spam TIgers FUry without ever runnig down to 0 energy. EVER. Lets see you do that with a warrior build. WHy dont you actually try something before you flame it. Please.

I'll be gentle here in the hopes that no one else will completely scream at you. The question was whether or not warrior or ranger should be the SECONDARY. That, by definition, means that expertise is not an option. I'm sure that people are well aware of the strengths of Tiger's Fury when expertise is in play - attacking another poster because you didn't understand the original question is bad form.

True, warrior is a better secondary than ranger due to the fact most of ranger's skills cost too much energy for a warrior to handle. The only possible instance in which a ranger secondary may be useful is the beastmastery line with several useful low energy skills. R/W is a good condition giver, but a necro can easily beat a R/W by just plague transferring condition right back. So there's a limitation to a R/W as well.

Bonetti's Defense is always nice too. Thank you all for posting, even you crazy people that like to ramble off topic.

You should have gone Ranger/Warrior, my friend. You would have been playing ranger style (range) in the first stages of the game, but once you got expertise going and great attack skills such as Tiger's Fury, then you could be a better tank than the warrior/monk in your team.
