axe warriors
can someone cough up your uber axe warrior build?
ive been the monk in a decent group, like 5 wins or so in random arenas, and then we meet this group with an axe warrior in fow armor. it was a one man show. this guy just cleaned us out. i was too busy healing to notice his skills... but does anyone know a good axe build?

Skill: Disrupting Chop (6 adren,0,0) [Axe]
Axe Mastery Level : 16
If it hits, this attack interrupts the target's current action. If that action was a skill, that skill is disabled for an additional 20 seconds.
Skill: Eviscerate (elite) (7 adren,0,0) [Axe]
Axe Mastery Level : 16
If Eviscerate hits, you strike for +32 damage and inflict a deep wound, lowering your target's maximum health by 20% for 21 seconds. This is an elite skill.
Skill: Penetrating Blow (5 adren,0,0) [Axe]
Axe Mastery Level : 16
This axe attack has 50% armor penetration.
Skill: Executioner's Strike (8 adren,0,0) [Axe]
Axe Mastery Level : 16
If this attack hits, you strike for +42 damage.
Skill: Frenzy (5,0,4) [Stance]
No linked attribute
For 8 seconds, you attack 33% faster but take double damage.
Skill: Conjure Frost (10,1,60) [Enchantment]
Water Magic Level : 12
Lose all enchantments. For 60 seconds, if you're wielding a cold weapon, your attacks strike for an additional 13 cold damage.
Skill: Resurrection Signet
Skill: Ice Prison (10,2,30) [Hex]
Water Magic Level : 12
For 18 seconds, target foe's legs are encased in ice, causing that foe to move 66% slower than normal. This effect ends if target takes fire damage.
OR
Skill: Armor of Mist (10,2,30) [Enchantment]
Water Magic Level : 12
For 18 seconds, you gain +34 armor and move 33% faster.
Although if your trying something for random 4v4, you may want to toss in some defensive skills.

Yea, the description he has there was before they changed it. It used to be 50% armor penetration flat out, back in the last beta. In retail it's been changed to 20%, and +21 dmg at 16. Eviscerate also hits for +42 at 16, not 32.

or instead of going with ele use monk and judge's insight for an ADDITIONAL 20% penetration and changes damage type to holy, reducing all armor to 60al vs your attacks before penetration from what I've gathered on other threads.
Giving you access to another smite skill of choice, I'd go with symbol of wrath, short duration but adds 100 some damage over 5 seconds, split up this way works against Prot Spirit monks.

whoa. i tried this build, man it is really nice
i switched out frenzy for flurry after getting repeatedly owned by obs flame. and i havent tried judges insight but w/ conjure frost it is really awesome
great build, tho it wasnt the one that owned me. the one i was up against had some really mad defense/buffs, and being random arenas no one could debuff him. but yea thanks for the buld

Don't use ice prison in random. You'll inevitably get someone on your team using a fire dmg holy rod or kindle arrows, or some other form of fire dmg. Otherwise, nice build.
Here's your standard damage-sustaining axe build:
W/Mo
Natural stats:
12 axe
12 str
3 smite
Executioner's Strike
Eviscerate {E}
Disrupting Chop
Frenzy
Sprint
Smite Hex
Mend Ailment
Res Sig
Learn when to use which stance, and you'll be fine. Smite hex and Mend ailment are your two main damage-savers, if you will. I use a zealous axe haft and have very little energy problems.

now that is one grade A idea
and personally smite hex has a ridiculous recharge time... so id switch it for judges insight. but thanks
and i use purge conditions on most of my w/mo builds

Take out Axe Rake for Shock, or Ward Against Foes, or Signet of Humility, or whatever else your team needs.

I've used both JI and purge conditions in place of smite hex and mend ailment. I kicked much, MUCH more ass with the smite/mend combo.

I dont see why someone would use a really weak mend ailment or smite hex on self if someone else could use a much stronger one that actually heals or smites something.
and you use mrend ailment onstead of purge conditions, just because it charges faster while being cast 3 times longer?
Oh of course we talk about the random arena... why would someone in fussure armor hang out there?

All these builds with frenzy with no stance to cancel it with? Not even sprint? Kinda crazy to me.

Mine had sprint in it... did you even read my post?
@Ollj: 3/4 of a second cast time, and you consider it long? OK... And I'd love to see him go into random arenas and hope to get teamed with an actual monk that would use a "stronger" smite/mend on him in a timely fashion.

I'd make sure sprint and frenzy were on any warrior. Also, the 20% armor penetration from penetrating blow does not stack with your strength bonus so it's not that great of skill.
Also, for anyone seriously running an axe warrior this thread is a must read.

too many ideas, not enough time
ill test them all out tomorow and tell ya what i think
BTW FYI i am *most likely* going to test this stuff out in *random arenas*. IF a guildy is on that can play monk ill go team arenas, cause otherwise it is a real hassle to get a monk to join in team arenas.
and yes ElderAtronach ill try the mend/smite instead of JI and purge.
sorry Sarus dont got the time to read that atm, but will asap and give you my opinion on it.
now does anyone see why i need a real good reason to start another pve necro? ive deleted enough pve chars as it is >.<

I like to run:
Disrupting Chop
Eviscerate*
Penetrating Blow
Axe Rake
Bull's Strike
Sprint
Frenzy or TF
Rez sig
With the kind of damage you can output as a W/R you opponent will often get the idea that they should run away from you. Axe rake and bulls strike really shine here.
