Ok, I've got 3 of my slots used, 2 for PvE (W/X + Mo/E/W/N), and the other is my PvP slot which I usually play a mesmer for my guild or tombs. I've got 90% mesmer skills unlocked (3-4 elites), and I've got all ranger skills unlocked except for the elites. So going w/ either one for unlocking will not matter to me. I've just been debating what I should do since I have another PvE mesmer (Me/Mo 9) at nolani, and I have already played through a me/w all the way up to henge. I have played a ranger up to LA. Both of these have gotten deleted by now (had to make room for other tests/my necro which is now deleted as well).

I am having a hard time choosing between a ranger and a mesmer because I have one caster class, and its a monk, so its not really a big damage class. I have tried ele, got up to LA before I, again, was bored. =/ The ranger class I would use for an interuppt/qs ranger later in the game. (But mostly I am choosing this class for vanity, 15k drakescale in black look incredibily nice). I can also run tombs with this build under qs rangers w/ every ranger bringing zephyr.

So can anyone help me decide?

This one's easy. Inexplicably, people sometimes *ask* for Rangers for groups, or will at least accept them into PUGs. Equally inexplicably, Mesmers do not get this advantage. The Mesmer is the path of either the solo or frustrated player. Choose Ranger. Why? Because most people are stupid.

I have so far (except for my warrior) used henchies for everything along with my guildmates from time to time, so getting into parties is no worry to me.

I was more or less thinking of either which one would be more "controllable" to play afterawhile.

In my experience, rangers have a little bit of a hard time picking up speed in PvE. What I mean is some of their most fun skills aren't available until much farther into the game than some other classes. This could be because I unlocked a bunch of their skills and jumped right onto the PvP bandwagon (And so am having a hard time playing without those skills), but I would go for the mesmer if you're just going for vanity reasons. Their 15k armor looks so much better dyed black it's ridiculous. =) Although as a ranger you'll have better luck getting into UW and such with trapper groups.

I don't like any of the female 15k, and the male enchanters dyed in black is only semi pleasable. So if it really came down to vanity reasons, it would be between 15k drakescale in black male, and 15k enchanters in black male. (Male only because I have 3 female characters, a male one would be nice for a change)
