Query: What is IWAY?
... and no one bother to preach "search". I'm not willing to spend a half hour going through what I'm sure is an endless list of threads using the word "IWAY" all the while hoping one of them will define it.
Edit: Ah, the Warrior skill. Never actually played warrior much. Thanks for the definition.

Against your smiter, nonetheless. I think they were just a bad team, a decent IWAY team should roll over smiters easily.

The IWAY build is a monkeys build. Ment for people who cant think of things to do. "Neeer im a W/Mo that just changed to W/R because for some reason mending and healing breeze weren't doing real well and now that i have my pet named Ub3rpwn ill join other ex-w/mo that think they know what they are doing. OMG WTF HOW DID THE SMITERS BEAT US. LETS RUN AROUND FOR A HALF HOUR AND MAKE THEM MAD...OH Crap...we lost..."
Yeah I really hate this build because yes, my smiting team pwnd them in the face and the couldn't accept their loss and ran around.

The IWAY Build is amazing. My guild and I were peddling around with it before the anti-spirit spammers etc patch. We took Halls a few hours after the patch with a smiting build with IWAY warriors. ODT FTW!

I'm sorry, what does this have to do with the strength of a build? I've rolled IWAY builds while running smite. I've rolled smite while running IWAY. The inability of most teams to 1) make a good version of a build and 2) run it well makes statements like these largely irrelevant.
Underestimate the build because you managed to roll a few scrubs who didn't know what they were doing at your own risk. Better guilds than yours have lost to IWAY.
Peace,
-CxE

Excellent post. I use IWAY often in the arenas after my 3 other teammates have died, enabling me to often manage to kill the enemy monk and the entire enemy team.

When you play it well and roll teams in less than 2 minutes on average 3 minutes each you realize the build is good. Learn to play it well and modify it so it's actually good.

Both a IWAY and the smite build are easy to copy, which is why there are so many of them running around. I have used both of them and it depends upon the group if the team is successful or not. If your team is knows what they are doing and have skill they will win. A pug group where people are yelling gogogogogogog, without deciding on tactics and who's doing what before hand will lose. Plain and simple, doesn't matter which build your using.

when used in moderation, IWAY is very effective. when used with 8 W/R, you will flawless it every time. however, it does get cheap fame versus newb teams, there is no denying that. for newbs trying to rack up small fame at a time, its not that bad idea. if you plan on winning, yeah, i dont see the point.

not every IWAY build rolls over like that, unfortunately.
but i agree an IWAY build is a build that really feeds on crappy teams and is generally not a good team. the *ONLY* time ive seen an IWAY team win in hoh (when i was there) was when our team managed to kill everyone at < 2 mins, only kink was that our ghost was stuck about 20 feet above the altar and wouldnt cap it. and the last team to hold it was a nooby IWAY team. it was retarded.
i think in about a week or so there wont be a standard IWAY team left in tombs. IMO its a fotweek build.

When used in moderation ? There is no moderation. That's the point, you get your pets to die, get some free temporary healing and use your res sigs to bring up your downed teamates. You won't flawless every game with 8, and even if you could 20, W/R. The build works around res sig and kiting.
As for farming fame... The only reason it's not omg pwz0r is because of it's inability to keep or reliably win the HoH. But if you don't mind fighting every map on the way there for the faction and collecting 100 fame per night with it it's pretty sweet. Up till now the only time I've lost with it was when I pugged it with people from guilds I don't know. Anyone who slighlty knows what they are doing will trample over anything.

Unfortunately you're wrong. Play with someone who is half-decent and you will dominate tombs with the IWAY.

It's not exactly quantum physics:
Counter to the IWAY:
Player 1
Ranger/X
Oath Shot
Dust Trap
Throw Dirt
Players 2 through 4
Anything that can do damage, AoE or direct. Anything that has Dots
Players 5 through 8
3 monks and a utility character

IWAY sucks no two ways about it, when I'm with a decent team I NEVER lose to those stupid ass pet builds. I've lost to them before, but only the ones who made decent modifications.
When I talk about modifications it's a surprise that I had never seen in an IWAY build and that I will actually look for next time.

hmm well, every IWAY build we have played has turned out the same, some harder some easier, but they all end up the same....
also if your saying that our guild is not very good, then i would consider twice.

Actually everytime I see an IWAY team I laugh my arse off. It will probably come the time when people will tweak it to make it similar to a decent, well-thought build, but right now even guilds under rank 100 running this build are a piece of cake.
First off, you immediately know they're a pet build, so the "surprise effect" (a nice addition on some builds) goes to shit after a millisecond.
Secondly, throw dirt, a constant aegis (it doesn't require Albert Einstein to have it up 90% of the time), Dots and the warriors raping the necro/s 5 seconds after the beginning of the match pwnzors this build like there's no tomorrow. Actually, you can manage to do it (maybe with a couple of casualties against a good iway) even without throw dirt.
It may be true that IWAY builds kill unprepared team fast, but they lose even faster to well organized groups.
Tweaks to it are possible, of course, but then it wouldn't be a real IWAY build, would it? It would definitely be something else, maybe something effective this time.

Hey how about you don't use scrub IWAY builds as examples cause it's pointless and misleading. For those who say good IWAY is easily countered, you haven't played good IWAY. If you want to counter bad IWAY setups just bring ward v melee and dual aegis and kill the necro cause they won't protect him well enough.
It's like saying air spike sucks because scrub teams will get owned by prot spirit (whereas a real team would just rend it with good timing, ensuring a kill without fertile or spellbreaker/obsidian flesh).
Conditions will devastate even good IWAY builds. The question is whether you can survive long enough for them to take good effect and nine times out of ten the answer is no.
Like oddsock said, it's not really a hall build, largely due to the difficulties of the ghostly hero. Taking the hall isn't an issue, holding is.

As you undoubtedly know, in this game Healing/Protection>Damage, otherwise everyone would go for builds that kill your opponents as fast as possible, without worrying about the 3 classic monks. As IWAY builds are now, it never happened to my Guild team not to be able to out-heal/out-protect (horrible english) them. Maybe an incredibly coordinated, non-scrubs-composed IWAY could even beat us, and when that will happen, I'll change my idea. Call me an open-minded dickhead. So far, I never lost to an IWAY, and managed to beat even rank -50 guilds running IWAY (my guild's ranked 38/39 if you're wondering). Would that belong in the definition of "non-scrubs" IWAY?
Secondly, I have the impression a VERY GOOD iway build wouldn't be an iway anymore, in the strict meaning of the term.
