I beat one of these in Halls tonight. We had our mesmer keep their necro down and, as you suggest, hexed the snot out of them. Faintheartedness on warriors and pets, Malaise on necros, etc.

scourge doesnt trigger on predatory season? >.< wtf thats not cool.
bleh theres goes my idea. anyway... these builds actually have 0 defense on their ghostly, so if you are running a build that doesnt use any real counters to this your best bet is to force them to take the altar then kill their hero (should be easy) and then take the altar before you all die out. im actually surprised the build made it to the hall, most die at the courtyard map.
the only real way to beat a 3 way altar on this map is to go rush a team away from the altar and hope you kill them before they kill your hero, (ive actually had it happen several times, all 3 heroes/priests died and no one won) then you have to do it all over again at the altar, so this build is really best at farming fame until you get to a 3 way altar map.

oh and one more thing: if you plan on actually killing someone in the build, or dont know who to target (because theyre all warriors) your best bet is to kill the necro repeatedly, waste their signets on him. then, ideally, you try to kill as many warriors you can at the same time, spiking one or focusing on one will only feed the "i will avenge yous". and *do NOT* kill their pets. that is a really bad idea.
however is you really have no way of killing more than one at a time, bring primal echoes and try to eat some of their energy (really not too hard - 1-2 pips depending on zealous or not and only about 25 energy total), that way they cant res. and this build is really centered on people dying/resing.
oh and that idea of combining this with a sacri-necro build is great! it sounds good, but since ive never really played a build like that i cant really tell anyone how to combine them....

this will never hold the hoh more than once if you get lucky, so if you think sigils > fame this isnt for you

Wouldn't a basic ball with Aegis, and a couple smiters beat this pretty badly? If their whole team is melee then Smiting should kill them in 10 seconds.

Smiters will kill pets, which will open the door for their necro, Well of Profane and IWAY, which will rip apart any team using enchantments. The trick is to not kill the pets, and pop corpses as soon as possible with necrotic or putrid, while maintaining your normal anti-warrior defense. Now that spirits no longer trigger IWAY, the warriors will be pretty screwed if there are no dead bodies around.

one aegis wont do you much good, ive seen alot of people use it and then rely on it, once it ran out they were screwed. otoh we got royally owned by primal echoes (actually we were using it in the hopes of screwing over a life bonder), and it totally destroyed us like all the time since we rely on that res sig.
also muddy terain owned us, we couldnt catch up to anyone crippled or not. (for some strange reason we absolutely had to bring that one. i dont even know why, but i wasnt the leader of the pug so w/e)
and yea if none of us died but we were all at around 50% hp we were basically done. see aoes are good but the tricky part is to make sure you dont kill the pets or you set off IWAY and corpses as the guy above me mentioned
so (sadly) our two spirits, primal echoes and muddy terain will do pretty good *againt* one of these groups. i was thinking of using predatory season against them buy having it set off scourge healing but apparently thats a no no. too bad
the severe lack of any condition/hex remover is probably the best weakness to exploit in this build

Panic, Wither and Malaise rock the IWAY build by shutting down the warriors power regen completely. They typically have no hex removal, so you don't necessarily even need a cover hex; and Wither/Malaise last ages with a few points in curses. Since IWAY takes 5 power to cast and they've got no hex removal, just stack degen on them, snare them, and let them rot to death.
Pretty much any warrior hate will do in large amounts, but easy solutions include Ward vs Melee, Ward vs Foes, Sympathetic Visage, Empathy, Soothing Images, Shadow of Fear, Faintheartedness, Insidious Parasite, and Water magic in general - water mages > warriors because everything's a snare and there's no NR to wipe em all off.

Bah, nothing but a cheap immitation of the pet build

The support Necro could take Martyr along - it would at least help against conditions and it has a global affect, so no need to stand close to your teammates. Plus Nature's Renewal could actually still help this team - it screws Prot Monks relying on Blessed Signet, it screws Necros and Mesmers with lots of hexes and Monks with non-permanent enchantments as it doubles casting time and a 4 second seed is pretty awful, some 6 second Necro hexes are extremely prone to interruption as well.
I'd love to see such a Warrior team run into Pacifism or Amity. Now that would be fun to watch

Well, it won't work for a smiting team with their AoE damage. But a spike group could certainly render most of the warriors useless with these hexes and then spike them to death one by one.

=/ that would be pretty hard. not to mention all the warior has to do is sit near the spikee and get hit by chain lightning. i see this failing in like 99% of the cases.

So don't use chain lightning, there are plenty of "spiking" spells out there (some of them even ignoring armor).

ok go try it
10:1 someone on your team does something dumb. or better yet the ghostly uses cyclone axe on them.
actually ya if you get pacificed just walk up to the ghostly - he hates everyone and is perfectly happy to do a cyclone axe on everyone in sight.

After playing with this in possibly one of the first groups to use it we found that what stopped us were snares. Ward against foes more then the block spells and skills, for those we used pure strike, irressitble blow, and swift chop. While these build's have sprint using your ward's to keep them running will cut down on their damage alot...another important note is that when you fight them engage them and then run away, get away from their dead pets. Most of them dont bring res for their pets. The distance of I will avenge you is a little larger then the minimap, so fight them in one spot and try to lure them away from the bodies.
Other then that pip degen kills things with armor just as well as those without it, one trapper could really mess up all of these warriors days...truly as summerized earlier in this thread conditions and hexes will hurt them alot. Barbed trap, dust trap, and spiked trap would shatter this build's effectiveness.
