ultimate tank
Im wondering which bulid would be the best for pure tanking. How to create a char that has no attack skills and its only task is to stand still and dun move while beeing attacked. Maybe mo/me becouse of hex/spell breaker and some mending etc

Warrior Tactics tanks can work pretty well since its all stance based.

Mending, Healing Breeze, Bonettis Defence. Pure Heal/Tactics is best for PURE tanking.

Endure Pain is pointless. A temporary boost in health that once expires can be the horrifying, and the recharge on it is far too long unless you invest a lot of points into strength. Endure Pain is easy to keep up since it only requires adrenaline, but I would prefer Gladiator's Defense anyday. +20 AL and extra health, or 75% chance to block and deal 30+ damage to surrounding mobs.
You only need three stances: Gladiator's Defense, Shield Stance, and Bonetti's Defense. With those 3, you can maintain a constant 75% chance to block as long as you are hitting something. If you can't maintain one of those stances, you're doing something wrong somewhere. That covers all the melee enemies you encounter. The only place where this won't prove to be extremely effective is against Skeleton Berserker's and I believe some enemies in Sorrow's Furance. They use Wild Blow, ending your stances which can suck.
Since you said you'll be strictly tanking, you have two options. Go with elementalist secondary for Armour of Earth and max out Earth Magic and Tactics. Or, you can stick with your warrior skills and max strength and tactics. Include Watch Yourself regardless, and if you go the strength route use Dolyak Signet. You can't be knocked down, and it provides a nice boost to AL as well with a quick recharge. Presonally I prefer sticking with Dolyak Signet over Armour of Earth simply because enchantment strippers are everywhere.
Another option for secondary elementalist is to use Warrior's Endurance to maintain Ward against Melee/Elements + Armour of Earth, and you could probably fit in some more earth spells and use Kinetic Armour. You can probably figure out something.
If you're in a group with more than one warrior, I'd advise bringing Healing Signet since your monks will have two warriors to worry about. Odds are, you should have a protection monk as well who can toss around goodies like Shielding Hands and Aegis as well.

you dont need warriors endurance to maintain Ward Vs Melee and Armor of Earth I just use Bonettis Defense.. I have a great tank setup that does decent dmg. let me see if i can find where i posted it
BRB
****
1.Sever Artery
2.Gash
3.Galrath Slash
4.Bonetti Defense
5.Gladiators Defense/Obsidian Flesh <-- only if taking on lots of spell casters
6.Armor of Earth
7.Ward Vs Melee
8.Res Signet
Earth 11:::::::::::::::::::::::::11
Sword+1 Rune/10:::::::::::::::11
Tactics+1 helmet/ +1 Rune/10:12
You dont need healing signet thats what a monk is for and If you want more damage output you loose defensive abilities to do that, this is another job left for the elementalists. Your primary goal is to tank so once your able to do that then you can try tweaking this or that to get a little more damage into your build.
Also I dont use any major/superior runes that take away hit points. I currently have major vigor and absorption trying to save for a superior absorption.
Sundering Fellblade of Enchanting
15-22dmg
+11% dmg when health above 50%
9 sword req
10/6 sundering
17% longer enchanting (this makes both armor of earth last about 5 seconds longer and adds a couple seconds on obsidian flesh)
Tall Shield
16 armor
8 tactics req
-2 dmg while enchanted
+43 hit points when hexed
Armor is
FOW Ascalon Helm
Dragon Scale Chest
Dragon Scale Leggings
15k Ascalon Gloves
15k Ascalon Boots
Another thing is that they fixed the one piece of ascalon or knights armor applying to the whole body. so thats not really needed anymore I prefer looks anyways
also thats a nice find with the eruption/victory is mine combo
I've since then switched over to axes you might want to try um
Axe 11
Earth 11
Tactics 12
1Penetrating Chop
2Executioners Strike
3Disruptive Blow
4Bonetti's Defense
5Gladiators Defense/Obsidian Flesh <-- only if taking on lots of spell casters
6Armor of Earth
7Ward Vs Melee
8Res Sig

IMHO, warriors are not in fact the best tankers. I'm pretty much convinced that mo/me is the best tanker. When i do just about any mission i usually grab someone who can bring winter or greater conflag or both depending on what I will be tanking and then I bring the corresponding mesmer stance. Works wonders. allows me to bring balthazars aura and symbol of wrath also to help with the damage. as long as I'm the only one tanking people can stand back and nuke all day long.

Actually, with the right setup, a caster tank MIGHT be the best one due to the fact that enemy pve AI is programmed to go after soft targets [and ignore warriors, oh the irony]
However, if the warrior on your team is smart [or me...], what a smart group does will just stand out of aggro bubble range and let the lone warrior run off and draw a mob. With Bonetti's Defense and any other tactics stance/shout, he should easily hold off a mob of 20 [yes, 20] foes for enough seconds that the healer/prot monks can enchant his tough as nails hide and when he does cyclone axe [it is an axe wielder I hope], all the enemies will stay on him since he hurt their feelings...
Mark of Pain + Cyclone Axe + Bonetti's = mob dead in 30s. or less or your money back.

It is a wonderful strategy... only problem is finding 7 other people who understand how that strategy works. Doesn't matter how many times I say "Stay way back out of my aggro circle" that at least one monk or ele will be right behind me.
@ Gabriel Fallen Monk: You could always be a w/me and bring in the mantras as well.

If you are going the Tactics Warrior route, maybe go W/Mo and try using Balth Spirit. It's maintained so you don't need to worry about constantly recasting it, and it will give you energy and adrenaline everytime you get hit (adrenaline gain increases with Smiting Prayers, but energy gain is constant at 1 per hit).

i think if you performed one of those incredibly complicated searches of this forum, you would find like a 29 volume thesis on that. [on why the armor increase is global]

Yeah, I hate when that happens. Other times, when it gets very annoying, I purposefully mob train like 50 enemies [or something huge like that] into my entire group to prove a point.
"I'm big manly man warrior designed for you cowardly fools to hide behind while you deal your supposedly godly damage knowing full well that should an enemy so much as sneeze on your big toe, you'd die a horrific death! muahahahhaha!"

Umm, I know this already dumf*k, I think you misread his post. He was stating that they fixed it so that doesn't apply anymore. I asked him to show where he read this.

The bast tank is a E/R geomancer with Armor of Earth + Obsidian Flesh + Serpents Quickness + ward agains foes + Magnetic Aura. He has like a mere 10 seconds of downtime on Obsidian Flesh, other than that he is basically unaffectable by magical spells. His basic Armor is 60 AL, Armor of Earth at an highlevel adds another 60 AL. Obsidian Flesh adds yet another 20 AL and maybe if you want to go uber crazy, you can also bring kinetic armor (you need to make sure you are spamming though...)
60 AL + 60 AL + 20 AL = Evil tank + Spell Immunity
The ward against foes is also really handy as it prevents mobs from rushing away. I've seen one of those tank the whole Underworld without the slightest of problem... even without a prot spirit an Aatxe would hit him for 60 max...

Hate to break it to you... but 60 is quite a bit of damage. I certainly hope that was a critical hit because they only hit my warrior for a 60+ when it's a critical hit.
Gladiator's Armour + Max Shield + Dolyak Signet + Watch Yourself. No energy, next to nothing recharge time on Dolyak Signet, and no fear of savage slash.
