This thread is essentially to help all of you out there that are having trouble beating their mirror image in the Desert. What I've done is written a general strategy for each primary. Use the combination of both and you are sure to beat this idiot without a problem

Warrior:
Always have Frenzy equiped. That's pretty much all you need, when I ran my Wa/Mo I destroyed him in less than 30 seconds. Do not run any interrupts as the Doppleganger uses them more effectively than any human possibly can (unless you run Heal Sig + Distract Blow so he loses time). But basically it's very simple, equip Frenzy and he's dead. Obviously do not bring other stances so that he's on perma-frenzy

I think it's obvious that you shouldn't run Frenzy even though it's equipped ; )

Necro:
Again quite simple, pack all the sacrificial spells you have that can be self targetted. He'll start the fight by mutilating himself to half health. Time by which you should already be dealing damage to him with the damage your secondary has to offer.

Mesmer:
Very tricky class do defeat. I've actually had alot of trouble with my Ran/Me since he has max attribute in everything and snipes you with that killer bow from 100 yards away. In the end I just had Empathy and Chaos Storm at max spec. Put empathy on him, then storm him. He'll tank it like a sport and die. Like the warrior and ranger classes, do not bring interrupts... you can move out of the AoE. He'll empathy you but just strafe from side to side while not getting to close/far (too close he'll whip out the axe, too far he'll move out of the Chaos Storm)

Monk:
''Oh shit how am I going to beat something that has higher spec than me, infinite energy and better damage while having heal spells ?'' No fear my little friend, equip no heal skills on your skill bar but Heal Breeze. Yea that's right, nothing. You can wand him to death if you want, he won't use the damned skill for some strange reason. Go with some smite just for fun or maybe stuff from the other lines. Idea here is: he's so good he doesn't use Heal Breeze.

Ranger:
Equip every single ritual you've unlocked so far... for some reason he thinks it's worth it to stand there 20 seconds while getting his face bashed in. Don't even bother killing the Fertile, you'll have enough time to beat him. I think it's obvious that you shouldn't have Troll Unguent on your skill bar. Don't bother with Distract Shot, it's more of an annoyance than anything else when fighting him. No Whirling Defense... no stances at all for that matter (except Frenzy)

Elementalist:
Dopples are like tomb noobs, they just tank AoE-dot damage like pros. All you need is Firestorm and Lava Font. Bringing more skills is just for personal satisfaction as they aren't critically needed. A little bit of burning (Immolate) for style points.

I've beaten this Dopple with the following combos and used the following strategy:
Mo/W - Smites and Frenzy, pretty easy with the Heal Breeze thing
W/Mo - Frenzy + Axes, lol he didn't stand a chance
E/N - Sacrificals + AoE-dot, he did half the work for me
R/Me - Spirits + Empathy + Chaos (no interrupts, he'll own you), this was the hardest one for me

Doppleganger's pretty fun to fight, I fight him with a new build near every night.

It's great for testing out new builds. The fastest I ever killed him was in 10 seconds with my N/W, didn't use frenzy though, just kinda beat him up a bunch while he was casting useless enchantments on himself.

My fastest win on the Doppleganger so far was with my monk. I beat him first try in a few seconds by maxing smiting and equipping pretty much every smite spell I had at the time. I had gone to Droknar's Forge, so I had Balth Aura (Which pretty much won it for me), but the strategy was simple.

Open up with Bane Signet, he hits the ground, and in the time it takes for him to get up, smite him like you've never smited before. It doesn't sound effective, I know, but trust me, it works like a charm.

I sorta dissagree with your monk tactic. once that bastard pulls out the bow its kinda tough. i recently did this with a mo/me and i ran with breeze, mending backfire , chaos storm and all the smiting spells my buddy had at the time and first thing I cast backfire then breeze then wait for backfire to wear off on me then chaos storm then fishish with nukes. Got the bonus but it took 2 tries to get it right.
You are right though he doesnt use the breeze he casts mending then backfire then pulls a weapon

And this is where it stops. All the info you need is posted up top in the original post. If a mod could clean the trash posts (last two above me) and sticky this somewhere it would be great. This way any new Dopple threads could just be deleted. Trust me, I don't like the Dopple threads either and that's why I made this.

If you're part Ele, bring Iron Mist. If you're E/, bring that and just fire spells and nuke him. I beat him in around 11-12 seconds and he didn't cast Iron Mist, I think I just used Fireball.

wow. just use henchmen then. people have beaten the entire game with henchmen so stop complaining about other players.
