Bs?
This is a quote from someone who shall remain nameless.. and I just wanted to see you all weild your theorycraft on it. Read this claim:

When used properly, this can be a very devastating combo against charr. Not charr hunter lords of course, but against caster enemies, I routinely do 100 damage a hit againt my main target, and 30-50 against surrounding ones. This is not against weak enemies either, as those figures were derived against level 24 creatures. With Tiger's Fury or some other IAS or ISR skill, I can hit for more than 150 DPS without aid from others. Should I use a Glyph of Elemental Power, I could probably increase that a fair bit.

He's talking about the level 20+ charr. Now look at the build.

That distribution is assuming I am going for a fire-based attack sequence... otherwise I switch Fire Magic for Water Magic and Conjure Frost!
The skill lineup:
QS
Dual Shot
Ignite Arrows
Winter(when going against enemies that are strong against fire)/Distracting Shot/Savage Shot
Whirling Defense
Serpent's Quickness (for recharging attack skills and winter faster)/Tiger's Fury/Distracting Shot/Savage Shot
Conjure X (Flame or Frost... depends on build necessities)
Rez Sig
Actually, normally I am under the effects of SQ, so I can really pump out the damage, since I am mostly doing attack-interrupting shots. I also rarely run out of energy with this build... it may seem to be high cost energy-wise, but it somehow works. I don't use a Zealous weapon with this build... its frankly impossible. I have been toying with the build since I decided to go learn some ele skills and try a QS build, but didn't have QS. I accidentally had this on while I was trying to do Last Day Dawns... and found I was doing horrendous amounts of damage against the charr lords. At one point, I was left to solo 10 charr lords... I finished 6-7 of them before they took me out. Just about the only ones remaining were the ranger charr.

although he is right, a prep + conjure with a double attack like that - i think punishing shot is better - will do alot of damage, i have absolutely no idea how much it does to a char.
his attribs are horrible tho, i can tell you that. oh and because its fire damage wouldnt a char have some kind of protecton too it?
im guessing he exagerated but its not like the *idea* of prep + fast attacks is a bad one.

With those stats he can put 6 in fire, for a grand total of +7 damage. He has enough left for 2 in BM, for a TF that lasts 6 seconds. Boo!~ *throws poo at him*

lol yea at the current stats i think he was doing some massive exageration, but with the proper stats something similar might be doable ^^

Maybe he's under the assumption that DPS means 'maximum attack damage in one attack', and he's just going by his Dual Shot on a target that happens to be weak to his current element. Him claiming 100 damage from a single shot, then 150 DPS under a 50% speed boost is just telling; that would imply a base bow attack speed of 1 per second, which would surpass even swords/axes.
Ofcourse someone boasting DPS ratings in PvE isn't someone you should be wasting too much time on.

damage dealing rangers that target warriors and monks first are cute, they should be warriors, or just start using their brain power to kill mesmers and elementalists instead of behaving like stupid "maxdamage , kill the monks first" warriors.

IMO for pve, you would rather have a choking gas/practiced stance ranger/war with frenzy.... DPS is easy to come by, AoE interrupt spam is more difficult to get. A ranger with choking gas and IAS up can pretty much shut down a pve caster from everything except 1/4 second and some 1/2 second spells... and its bonus when they are in a group because then you get both of them. Its a LOT more efficient at killing a monk boss than a DPS ranger would be... just say no to orison of healing, life attunement, and mark of protection... GG
