for a ranger its pathetically easy if you know the 'trick': grab a bow, 7 bow attacks, and troll. (dont take anything else, no preps, nothing)
then go really close to the dop so he uses an axe. then make sure you distract his troll unguent and heal accordingly. done.
lol i meant 7 bow attacks. my b

These professions makes Dopper a piece of cake
load all spirits u have available and load life sacrifice skills on ur bar, once u get in he will start spamming spirits, just keep hitting him with ur wand or bow, after he finishes casting the spirits he will have like half of his hp reamaining and he will start to use the life sacrifice skills and u kill him fast and get the bonus.
The thing is load ur skill bar but dont use any of them.

The way I beat my Dopp with a necro is to put in as many sacrifice spells as possible on ur bar, and put in Diseased Flesh and put in a few points for Death Magic to help buff that spell. Make sure you take everything out of the sacrifice spells, like take out all blood magic so it doesnt do more dmg than the amount of health u sacrifice. Make sure u use a max dmg weapon long range and hit him with ur arrows. At the end, hell sacrifice more than he does to u, and make sure U dont use those spells excpet for Diseased Flesh. and DONT put in blood renewal, I accidently put that in and when he was about to kill himself, he healed up, but luckily we both ended up dying at the exact same time and i won. put sum spirit summoning spells also, it makes him waste time casting them.
this should work, try it
*edit* as u can tell i use a necro/monk lvl 20, and he smites outside of Bergen hot springs for damn good money. Necro/monk can use blood magic and smite in arenas and he pwns REAL good, probably best necro combo.*edit*

***SPOILER***
R/Mo - max bow
So, I loaded my bar with natural preps and rituals. In 8 I put apply poison, in 7 distracting shot and troll in 6.
Load in, doppleganger starts to summon EoE or sumthing. I apply poison and start to pound. 20 seconds later, he fires troll, i disrupts and ded in less than 30 secs.
Like a champ. I had heard this was one of the most difficult encounters in the game. ROTLF!!!!
Thunderhead Keep . . .
Thats all I ahve to say about that.

Yes, that works fine, but only loading spirits and nothing else will be even easier, and still absolutely fast enough for the bonus.
And I have to admit that Thunderhead Keep is hard without a decent party, but Dunes of Despair bonus is even harder.
But... by far the most difficult thing in the entire game is finding (!) a PUG for Thunderhead bonus!

put all your points into beast mastery, expertise and marksmanship.. then bring a bunch of spirits & tiger's fury.
thats all you need.. no sense in wasting 2 slots on troll unguent and distracting shot.. if he doesnt have troll unguent he cant heal.. and he wont be attacking you if he's casting all those spirits.

first off you need to be about lvl 15 b/c the difference in lvl really does matter on the dmg dealing and receiving. go cap barrage then go in with barrage, distraction, troll and a bunch of spirits. he will never move when he uses the spirits. let him get about 2-3 down then spam barrage to kill the spirits and interrupt his troll with distracting shot. he will just recast the spirits again, rinse, and repeat.

my best on beating the dop was lvl 7. it is doable there. you dont really *need* to be lvl 15 or anything, just make sure you can evade his attacks. (distortion ftw)

For my ranger/ this is what I used:
1. Sand Trap
2. Barbed Trap
3. Dodge
That's it. I ran up the ramp on the sides with Dodge and layed traps as I went while he chased after me. Since he was blind from the sand trap it gave me enough time to lay out barbed trap and lure his stupid @$$ into it. Mixing both, I hit more times than him and the bleeding made the fight easier.
For my necro/ I used all sacrificing skills. ***Use Awaken the Blood FIRST!!*** This'll make every sacrificial skill 50% more deadly on his life. Here's a list of good skills that I meantioned on a different site:
"Necro/ & /Necro is THE easiest in my opinion. All you need is sacrificing skills and you'll watch him kill himself. Don't use any skills and attack away!
Here's what you bring:
***Awaken the Blood*** - This'll leave him killing himself twice as fast. Use this skill FIRST. The doppleganger will go down the skill bar in the order you placed them.
The rest are purely optional as to which ones you have at the moment and whether you choose to use it or not. Put them in any order as long as they're after Awaken the Blood:
1. Signet of Agony - He starts bleeding.
2. Chilblains - Although not a sacrificing skill, he becomes poisoned which when combined with Sinet of Agony is deadly.
3. Malaise - Since you won't be using any skills, his health will drop even more.
4. Defile Flesh - Since you won't be healing yourself he'll just sacrifice more life.
That's all you really need on your skill bar to make him hurt himself really badly. Enough for you to kill him in 5 - 10 seconds if you just attack him straight on."
GL w/ that doppleganger!

Sadly, messing your attribute points up won't work. Your clone has 15 in all attributes all the time.

Yeah i use to laugh at people who said they cant beat the nec. I was el/nec for my first char. I beat it the first time in like 8 seconds with just sac spells. My fourth char through the game i made nec/ra. THEY CHANGED THE NEC DOPPLE COMPLETELY. It doesnt use really any sacrifice skill even if you bring them all. Try it now, it doesnt work the way it use to.

I originally had a tough time with my necro/mesmer... took 6 tries to beat it! I eventually lead off with Backfire and Dark Pact to take him out.
My warrior/monk crushed him in under 10 seconds last night.
