You also killed half you credibility , there is no such thing as a tanking warrior in pvp, at least not a very good one. Tanks only work when people are attacking you, however they will go for the soft targets first. (hopefully)

I never had any credibility to start with!
But yes, you're right, a "tanking" build in pvp is usually worthless. Where pve is concerned my previous statement stands.

To whoever said a mesmers job is to shutdown an opponent not deal damage:
Is dead not counted as shutdown? Can't do a lot when you're face down in the dust.
Can't think of a lot of other builds which will do 500+ dmg in a few seconds.
Sure, frag is easily countered, which is why I don't run it, but taking one of the enemy players out 20 seconds into the fight to force use of 1 of their res sigs or play 3 vs 4 is well worth it imo.

Try a frag spiking r/me with 1 second burning inc arrows, a shortbow, and tigers fury (apply poison during the inc recharge). Frag mesmers dont have anything on a frag r/me's dps.

Diversity is an old old wooden ship that was used during the Civil War era.

Every profession actually DOES damage, but its not always their primary roll to do damage.
In PvE a Warrior is no good if he's standing behind the casters and attacking a monster after the monster starts attacking a monk. He is supposed to be in front taking damage. The damage he does is just a bonus.

In response to Inspirational Muse, the original poster... Yeah, I've been experiencing a lot of the same problems myself. I want to try other types of characters in PVP, but the only way to win is to play a healer.. In the rarity I actually find a group with another healer, they often aren't even decent at it. I never managed to get a single team arena invite with my own mesmer... It was seriously disappointing. At least people with original builds ARE out there, or at least uncommon ones, and they can be refreshing to play alongside or against.
I have to disagree about your Fragility mesmer comments though. Yeah, there are WAY too many of them in the arenas, it's freaking nuts... And it does go along with that whole "more dmg!!111" mindset. I guess what I disagree with is the comment about what a certain class is 'supposed' to do. My main healer is an ether prodigy E/mo and I know it works, heh, I play all kinds of different healers. I think strange builds - even Frag - should be encouraged. If a build doesn't work, then at least the player learned something, and it makes things more interesting I think. If -every- mesmer I saw was guaranteed to be only shutdown or energy denial or whatnot, it would take a bit away from the game for me, I think.
But yeah, I disagree with the general player's mindset on what they're playing and what builds they want to play alongside. At least they're probably losing to the good guilds out there who aren't afraid to try things, heh.
