Not only in your opinion - they have the same stats - what could be more objective?
When it comes to the runes. I once did excessive testing of what stacks with what since I didn't belive, that Knight's/Ascalon Armor pieces worked globally. Belive me - I've tested every possible combination on fixed-attack-damage monsters.

Yes - I remember my earlier posts. That's why I said this:

I didn't belive that Knight's/Ascalon Armor pieces worked globally and I was proven wrong.
Don't quote my OLD posts, read what I'm writing here - and I'm writing exactly the same thing as you.

i tested this really thouroughly, and when you put on mending, you get an average of 35 - 27.35892653 damage reduction (in PVP), while in PVE the damage reduction is 41.7-10.999 (the results of an intensive numerical analysis done in infinite precision arithmetic)
i think it half stacks with absorbtion runes, like you get the extra damage reduction 36%-82% of the time, approximately.
the reason has something to do with the 4th dimension, but its still a work in progress

He, he, he. Nice one. ;-)
It's almost like the "mission briefing" of the mock-party in the Leeroy Jenkins movie. ^^

Ah my bad for being late to the game. Still woulda been more helpful if you did post a more informative link later, as I did.
Guru lacks an absorption explanation break down, or I just can't seem find it in the appropriate area. I also noticed their dmg reduction explanation seems incorrect to, or maybe I'm missreading it, as it does not take into consideration absorption. Odd, especially since they are using knights armor in their example. Again, I could be reading it wrong.

is it just me, or shouldnt the GW staff/programmers/devs/whatever come out and TELL us what it is? like heck why do we, (as a community, royal we, whatever) have to figure this out?
any definitive guide wont have any 'proof' that its right beyond what some people observed, in-game, and thats bound to be questioned. not to mention any update in gw could change this whole thing, making the whole guide meaningless, etc etc.
so, why cant gw just put an 'advanced' link on their game update page which explains all the teeny, hidden changes they made? this would help alot of people play better in gw, and raise the overall competition in gw. just an idea

oh and be warned about using the skill Mending too often - as quoted directly from jesusmaltliquor.com, frequent use of 'mending' may cause "depression, infertility, even death"
you have been warned.

Well - as I said before I tried to contact some alpha tester which I remembered. He told me then that Knight's Armor reduction didn't work globally. But SonOfRah inspired me to do some more tests with these infamous "Wild Blow Charrs" and I came to the conclusion that the alpha tester was wrong (just like me).
I then tried to contact the GW team through support and through some *mysterious* e-mail addresses I don't want to disclose - nevertheless I never got a definite answer on this question.
It seems that all we can do is rely on our test results and in fact the way SonOfRah described the testing procedure one can be pretty sure that the result is 100% right.
I find however that something about the whole situation should be done. Maybe the GW programmers want to encourage armor mixing, but this Knight's/Platemail combo is based on something, which I would call a "half-exploit". I mean - you get a BIG advantage over the people who are using a full Knight's or Platemail set. Besides that a full Knight's Set is completely useless as it is and it's not quite logical that the dev team included something in the game that costs loads of gold to make and is inferior to everything else. -.-
This is also unfair to the players who don't have the information we have. They happily wear their Platemail/Knight's Sets without knowing why they are being owned by someone who wears some kind of armor trick-combo.

If I were to use an ascalon helmet with all platemail, would ascalon helmet also give the -2 damage?

warriors armor
i wear all platemail except knights gloves for absorbtion with sup vigor works well for me
my buddy runs all gladiators except an ascalon helm which give absorbtion
look for the bonus' you want and get one peice for each armors bonus might look funny but it would be the ideal armor set up i like gladiators for energy will be buying that someday
