Amei please remember it's a game! My Game! We can all play it anyway we like. If you have that big of a problem with runners then grab henchies and fight your way through. Maybe MMO's are not for you. Or this MMO!

If your running for your own gain, then I can see the point.
I have ran 8 or my 12 chars all the way throught the long way. I dont do PvP, so you all can do what you wish, tis cool with me.
I spent the day yesterday in pre-searing. Helping noobs. I ended up fending off all the noob rapers who buy dyes for under a 100g each and bring then to post and sell them.
90% or the "runners" I see do it for gold. and they short cut the game experience for the noobs who havent gone all the way with all thier chars.
Then the noobs get to the desert, they dont have the skills, nor knowelge, no level to go on. But by golly they have Doknars armor, woo freakin hoo.
Hope this explains my point of view. If you do if for you, cool. If you screw over noobs, you will hear from me in game.
I also play SWG and SL, until GW is expanded, ill just keep helping others.

I have never seen a real new player to the game have enough money to get ran to Droks and buy the armor. So, do you have any valid points about negatives of running?
I have met a few newer players who were ran by their guild mates, and their guild mates bought them the armor, and the explained the benefits of what they did.
In most cases of running that I have seen where an actual new player joins, they will often quit once they realize that they are just being ran there. They want to play the game. You don't have to stand up for them, Amei, they aren't mentally handicapped. They can think for themselves, if they truly want to play the game through, they will leave a running group when they realize what it is.
This also isn't a good thread for you to bring up your problems with running. Do it somewhere else. Don't hijack someone elses thread, just your three sentences have already turned the direction this thread was going somewhere else.

I have. Many times. In fact, I had a friend buy the game and within two days he had Droknar's armor. All it takes is finding a black dye or two in presearing - not that hard.
Within two weeks, he had already finished the game and stopped playing because "it was too easy" (and no, he had no interest in PvP).

EDIT: This is kind of weird, but you should be able to run that easy. You're in the runners academy, come on, at least of the members there should be able to teach you, paid 15 Ecto for this? Make good use of them, ask LBS for help.

yea 15 ecto was suppose to get u a guide or something to running read it in some post named lbs running academy.

There's a group that charges 15 Ecto to "train" someone how to do Forge runs? Oh man. That's such a great scam. Right up there with all forms of religion.
Seriously. Droks runs aren't difficult at all if you're capable of making observations and acting on them. All you have to do is spend a little time scouting it yourself to see the places you can stop and the spots to use certain skills. It's stupidly easy.

Hmm, I haven't seem to have a problem with Muddy Terrain, and don't recall encountering it, or haven't noticed it. When I have trouble immediately following the worm cave in Lornars it usually has to do with aggroing the ice imps and the Avicara at the same time, or not being able to run away from the Avicara who persue you outside the aggro circle and running into the Ice Golems who hit me with Deep Freeze

Yes there is, its Lady Blue Steel's runner academy which she advertises for in the Etc forum under Ventari's Sell. Last time I checked she charges 10 ecto and 10 shards which is actually worth more than 20 ecto. I wouldn't label it a "scam" but the price definitely seems high - considering the toughest part is all the time/money you spend getting the proper equipment. I for one am very open about my running/farming builds and strategies don't like a secretive atmosphere in games like this though I would respect others right to do so. I have benefitted quite a bit from others free advice, so in return I pass on what I have learned. Though admittedly I am not the best runner/farmer.

It can be very hard if you hit a bad spawn, such as having mobs too close together so you have no rest points in between them. There are two spots in Lornars that can be really hard. Rest is fairly easy. I figured out the hard way avoid the heretic in Dreads - you just storm out of the second you load! Snakes is breeze as long as you are careful and observant(with the possible exception of being lag warped in the troll cave and getting jammed - but that has nothing to do with your skill).

Run Forest Run
Hey there
You only get Muddy Terrain if you aggro the Pinesouls. Watch your aggro!
Firstly, always look what kind of creatures are around you, as this changes depending what spawn it is.
Typing the strategy here of what to do would take too long as most of the time you have to improvise in your running (again because of different spawns)
Just be assured that you will succeed.
I myself never heard of runners until my 4-5 character. The history of running was explained to me by a fellow guildie. When i was first "ran" I was actually amazed at the skill of the runner at the time and said to myself "this is what I'm gonna learn to do" so began my personal quest.
At first it took me some time to get my skillset in order. This was achieved through experimentation by constantly trying the run with different skills (he hee I died many many times) Also, if you are being run, watch closely.
At the end of the day skillset is important, but patience and attentiveness is paramount. Also timing is very very important.
Anyways the skillset is no great secret. Here's what I use:
Balanced Stance
Sprint
CHARGE
Healing Signet
Purge Conditons
Smite Hex
Healing Breeze
Mending
Also, I find you sometimes have to be in a running mood. If I haven't run for a while, I'll do a warm up run from Ascalon to Beacons (gets you in the mood) or from LA to Sanctum Cay.
So just keep going for it and eventually you will make it.
PS: Just thought of something ... sometimes you may need to lure creatures away

Wow, are you sure we are playing the same the game?!
1.) So what did you do with the remaining 4 characters?...get a run?
2.) Most noobs can't afford the ~3000gp it costs to make that run let alone the cost/materials to make 1.5k armor. First time players spend it all on armor in post searing Ascalon and on skills. Those that have the money are not the noobs. They have already finished the game with one character or at least gotten far enough to know how to play.
3.) There is no way to get to the Desert without doing some of the missions around Lions arch and Maguuma....and again there is no way a noob could get there (money issues).
4.) I still do not see how this affects you personally? If you see a low level person in a high area you don't have to let them join your squad.
Finally for what it's worth. I got my level 10 Mesmer to Droknar's. I joined a pick-up group for the first mission. One warrior kept saying "kick the mes, he is only level 10 and a noob. I kept saying "Don't worry its an easy mission, I've done it 3 times". So we start the mission...and the dumb level 20 ascended warrior goes and attacks the first group of Murssat he finds....insta-death. I then type "Who's the noob now" and he drops from the group. Once we successfully finish the mission, I PM him saying, "Hey remember me, I am at Iron Mines, where are you?"...can't repeat what he responded.
My point being that the level 20 was a bigger noob than me. Don't let the level fool you. I ended up getting that Mesmer to Amber light camp at level 12, by doing most of the Southern Shiverpeak missions by myself. I then went back and did the desert missions with a better skill set than the average level 20 Mesmer.

You need to do exactly one mission to get to the Desert: Sanctum Cay. And there is what I consider to be a bug at the end that makes the mission runnable.

Agreed
where idiots get run so they can have the armor and elites in the [newbie] LOW level arena, farming faction and touting their leet skills (which is just buying an advantage to make it even easier to slaughter new players) is sad
but yeah I got my warr run and necro run - I'd rather have the armor and zip through some spots easier 2nd and 3rd time through. My E/ME did it all, I don't need 100% completion 3 times through.
and I'm going to look at running with my W/R leveraging a MO probably for a challenge and maybe some $ on the side, but no it won't become regular
happily I'm not the type to give a care about fissure armor and the crazy requirements. I am hoping for new, and reasonable options, in expansion tho
