ranger spike is definetely flavor of the month now. its easily countered, but its easy for newbs to run and it kills bad teams easily. sounds like iway! ^^

with the popularity of vim healing builds (shields up spam) ranger spike is on it's way out now
IWAY is as popular as ever. It is a stronger build now with the addition of 2 trappers replacing a couple of wars, as traps are not contained by aegis and wards and other standard IWAY defenses. Competent IWAY teams will body block their target and the trappers will complete the job for them. The use of eoe and a well timed nature's renewal with a good chain rezzing tactic is making it harder to counter.

that mind wrack build (which i think does better without mindwrack.. lol) is definetly fotm. so is putting up spirits in the halls (like fertile seasons... seriously every holding group had it)
*pure* ranger spike is pretty dead, iways are getting smarter, the usual. trappers are still comon enough to put restore condition as the elite.
i can even give you a heads up... the super gay mesmer build v13 is totally the new fotm

There arent any clear fotms at the moment, which is kudos to anet for achieving a reasonable balance (no doubt shattered by the expansion )
By fotm, your generally talking about an overpowered skill/combination that everyone runs due to its power, or runs against. Well, thats what its been till now since the metagame has been defined by these kinds of things (e.g. Natures Renewal)
At the moment, there isnt anything 'overpowered' but there are a few gimmick builds that are popular... as for which is most popular, id say, like above, none are, and therefore atm there isnt a clear fotm:
the main gimmicks:
- trappers
- iway
- ranger spike
and smaller gimmicks, that arent so popular but are still fotm-y:
- air spike (yeah its still around)
- smite (yeah, thats still around as well)
- healing balls
- mesmer spike
- flareway -.-
- foc spike
thats most of them... but until someone finds a bug/imbalance to exploit, there wont be a clear cut flavor of the month.
In fact, balanced teams are starting to occur , and other teams that rely on lots of nukes like shower (which hold the hall well), and just get through to hoh on skill, trap camping and healing ball-ness.

Even saw IWAY used in GvG last night for the first time by a rank 350ish guild. "Proper" IWAY too, not the Warrior Nation variant.
Other than that Mesmers are everywhere, Power of my Rangers continues to win the halls with ranger spiking pretty regularly and earth and water eles seem to be around alot more too

classic iway (6 wars + 2 necros) is dead. if you see a classic iway in a tombs map, maybe there were no trappers in their district.

Want a good iway build?
4 warriors
1 ranger
2 monks
1 necro with putrid/tainted/martyr.
GG.
I've beat top 10 guilds with this shit. Don't argue about it, it works, I've done it, I've won ( and held ) HoH with it too.
Most people run bad iway. You can easily kill that, but this iway? No, hehe.
You can beat it, true.
But as someone from pRp's Ranger spiking team said tonight: "holy shit, iway got RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GOing smart. hardest iway I've faced"
We killed them all, and their hero, but one of our monks got killed, and we couldn't kill their last ranger before he killed our Hero.
