Chest Farming?
Where do you chest farm, and what kind of items do you get?

I get purples now... I used to get Lots and lots of gold armors and good gold stuff from chests outside of droks(witmans folly entrance) and Granite Citadel towards mineral springs. Now i don't farm that anymore, it's too expensive. My advice... don't be the first one to open a chest. Scream and spam "CHEST CHEST OOO" and stand and wait to see if its a gold item, if it isn't, laugh and dont open it yourself.

not from what I have tested, the 'if it's purple for the first person, it's purple for everyone' theory hasn't failed yet throughout about 40 chest openings.
if it's rare for the first person take it, if it's purple, (unless you want a purple item..) then pretend you don't have a key. :P
but, solo chest running, you can never be sure, so.. on the topic at hand, I too have ran a few in Witman's Folly, got mostly purple wands/staves, and Perdition Rock, again.. mostly purple staves with the occasional sword or wand.
now if I'm bored and want to run chests I only bother with Fissure ones.. seems like I get more rares than purples.
(wasn't there an update a while back that said most players will get rare items? was that including purples? haha, because, even when not running, I find that more often than not it's a purple item)

yep, the keyword is 'most'. There's a lot of grey area with that word.

too much grey area says I. It'd be nice to actually get something that wasn't a purple staff with a +2 insightful head on it sometime.

right outside port sledge i farm the Shiverpeak Chests
one run takes about 5 minutes for 2 chests, and ive made 30k off a staff, 30k off a hammer, 50k off a bow, and 60k off a fellblade as my best sales.
but you only get a gold about every 5-7 keys, and a good gold like very 15-20 keys

Doing the math on Knido's post... at 400 to 600 gp a key, that comes out to 2k-4k for a gold, and 6k-12k for a good one. Ouch. ;-) I only bring keys when I'm helping out on a mission, cuz usually someone will open one before me. I always suggest to the team before launching the mission to "Bring KEYS!". That way, someone will open a chest before me. ;-)
