The healing isn't mostly coming from ViM, it's from stacked healing springs.

Run wild blow on your warrs. Target the trappers and you're destroying their damage and healing. Keep spread out. Run martyr instead of restore.

Hes the only one who said it. Energy Denial would ruin this team so bad its not even funny. You dont have to get in real close to kill them and at a certain point they will just run out of energy. My team has already went up against this when there was a group holding halls running an 8 man. Our 4 mesmers run monk secondaries for quick rez so we just swapped for vengeance since you get no dp and had the war trigger all the traps until he died. When he died we brought him back with veng and he triggered the rest with no dp. It was slow going but that coupled with energy denial ultimately won us the hall.

Trap teams ball. They rely on energy.
Answer energy surge. Every team is carrying it these days. I don't even see this team as a threat.

Energy Denial is right on here - Panic tends to tear these teams apart, as well as a general lack of damage beyond DoT. One copy of Divine Healing or Heal Party can keep the damage at a minimum, and you generally want things that hit several party members at once.
When we hit these guys we tend to ball up except for our one Martyr-user who stays back a bit. They, of course, have to charge and get up close all at once, following which we just hit them with chain AoE. Earthquake + Aftershock from two eles cycled nearly kills even Rangers, and it does so before they get their traps up if done correctly. From there you can just take them out one at a time and drop a Soil if you have it.
If they drop QZ then Martyr becomes suddenly twice as effective - use that to your advantage.
I can't see any really obvious solutions for those running a warrior-based offense though. Seems like that Blind is going to stay on with so many trappers even with Martyr around, and gradually outdamaging them is nearly impossible with ViM backing them up. A balanced offense will help you here.

Mantra of Resolve = Stance.
Wild Blow = No more stance.
Just a thought.

well, my guild runs this, and only the monks run VIM, and the monks chain aegis, the trappers heal themselves with healing spring and use whirling defence and mantra of resolve. from our losses, id say that what beat us was either a better team of the same build, or a team running matyre and then just taking out the monks by taking out their energy, im a healing monk normaly and annoying mesmers are what kill us.

Actually an iway will always lose to any type of trapper team. ALWAYS, unless the trapper team just absolutely stinks. And correct me if im wrong but wild blow cant hit through blind (well a 10% chance to) so just a thought and they all carry blind so. Basically groups that can kill this are energy denial, groups with restore condtion, and high damage fast spiker groups.

i found, in the hall that when trappers take the alter they tend to ball up around the hero, i found spiteful spirit to work quite nicely here. if you can get spiteful on 2-3 of them dealing 37-41 dmg (depending on if you use awaken of blood and have 16 curse) each time they use a trap they will kill themselfs.
and btw i have seen many trapper groups using mantra of resolve because of whirlings recharge time and the lack of oath shot. And they do have pretty unlimited energy with ViM thats where warriors dont come in handy because they would be the source of the groups energy/health

Hi there
I'm from the Guild [Hype], the Guild that has "created" the VIM build ^^
I sure won't say anything but I must admit that I find your topic very interesting Some of you really understood the issues our build encounters, some others are completely out of the subject ^^
But I'm very glad to "hear" that this VIM build has triggered some reactions among several players
See you around
