Candy Weapons: The Good and the Bad
We'll take Candy Bow as an example...
The Good
- No requirements. Less requirement = more damage.
The Bad
- Not max damage.
- Can't be applied w/ mods. (accrdg. to players. I've not tried it yet)
- No bonus damage.
Now the question will be why use it if you have Drago's Sundering Flatbow?. The answer is, Candy Bow does more damage than Drago's Sundering Flatbow at 0 Markmanship. So players who don't have Markmanship (players who's not ranger but pulls enemies in PVE, IWAY w/r at Tombs, etc...) benefits on Candy Bow. This also applies on other Candy Weapons too.

Its close to midnight for me, so my mind may be foggy....but that didn't seem right to me..
Isn't req just a number that once not reached means you do starter level damage of your weapon? And once reached, it does damage according your attribute?
In other words, the lower req doesn't really do more damage... Or so I think I remember... (confirmation/ denial please?)

I do believe you are correct.
However... what is the range of a Candy Cane Bow?

dont you get some additional dmg % with every lvl above the req.? on a req 7 bow, you would do the listed dmg. but if i remember correctly, if you had 14 marks on a 7 req bow, you should do more than just the listed dmg. im not sure on this tho. thought i saw somethin like that on some article here.
and a candy cane bow is 15-15 dmg

yea i went off trapping in uw with my candy cane bow, works great if a pull goes wrong(dangit), and you need to finish something off, since i have a total 0 pts in marksmanship while trapping.

You get additional damage for having Marksmanship over 12 (and less damage for having Marksmanship under 12). That's entirely separate from whether or not you meet the requirement.
Same goes for warrior attributes and melee weapons, of course.

Outta 5 HoH matchs I watched yesterday, 4 of them had Candy Bow users. A warrior (not even /ranger) was bowing the hero and actually doing dmg enough to pull that heros team into battle.
The sheilds were popular too for "Omg he wearing christmas item!" sake.

My ranger with a Custimized Candy Cane Bow (CCCB?) was doing 30+ damage to Fire Imps outside LA. It's pretty decent damage, considering.

As was said before, that's an urban legend. With Marksmanship you do get a higher chance to critical though (read the description of Marksmanship).
