Tactic Healers
Hi every1. Im new to the forum and i know, my english is realy bad. Well aniway, heres something i would like to try with my guild build (which is a balanced grp with no hex, not alot of enchants and nature renewal. Work pretty well for us)
Actualy we use 2 pure healer (with /mes for mana). But since i see more and more ranger spike, i thought of using this instead :
2X Mo/wa
14 healing
10 divine
9 tactic
-Orison of healing
-Word of healing
-Healing Touch
-Infuse Health
-Shield Up
-Wary Stance
-Disciplined stance
-Rez Signet
So, obviously, they heal. Wary and disciplined for some protection (and energy with wary). Rez signet is always nice (we got hard rez on a /mo)
But the big thing is we can keep shield up forever! Therefor, i hope, conter rangers spike (and ranger in general). Because its the monk, not the war, who carry it. The range is not a big problem since our healer should be near other casters aniway.
What do you think? could this conter ranger spike?
(ps. Again, sry for my por english)

You really don't have much in the means of energy management. Plus shields up won't help too much in GvG. Very few good teams run pure rangerspike. You are most likely to see a combined spike that no single skill can stop. You would probably be better off playing a Mo/Me with distortion (only 4 points in illusion and you only use it when you absolutely need it) or a Mo/N with offering of blood.

Ive played a monk for ages. With Word, orison and touch, u never run out of mana, not even close (cept if they got mana denial...). And the goal of shield up is to protect the others caster, against spike monks are not very useful aniway.
And for ranger spike, ive watch only few guild in observer and ive see patiant relaxed people and eternum pariah use it. Also seen some guilds playing their exact build...

Problem is condition control and hex control. Aegis, infuse and touch are enough to counter spike if you have quick fingers, but spike is only part of your competition. At a minimum you want martyr or heal party for drain spam.
I am of the opinion that you can put together a different build that accomplishes more, with greater efficiency. I may even take two of the pre-made boon healers over that build given I have experience players running (don't hold me too that, I haven't looked at that build recently). Unless you are a spike group that doesn't see any other playing style as a threat, I would look at something else. If you are that spike group, don't bother with these monks... get 2 more spikers and hit 2 targets.

I ran a tactics heal monk in arena for a while. Charge and Deflect Arrows, was pretty godly against interrupt spamming rangers, kiting warriors and boosting team mates who were chasing or fleeing. And a lot of fun

How about Bonnetti's Defense or Balanced Stance? Bonnetti's is a great energy management skill against Warriors. Balanced Stance would definitely counter a significant portion of W/E (remember all those Axe/Gale Warriors during the tournament?) functionality.

If you're running Tactics Monks, I'd say "Charge!" and Balanced Stance are really good ideas. "Charge!" is great for both helping out teammates and (of course) getting yer heiney out the grinder. Balanced Stance is...well, Balanced Stance. There are all sorts of cool tricks in Tactics, but in all reality, I wouldn't want a tactician Monk as a primary healer. Perhaps run one or two Tacticians alongside more conventional Healers? Nobody said you couldn't have more than two primary Monks in a team, after all.

tactics monks with balanced stance and bonettis may well be the next GvG FOTM, until the warriors bring wild blow......

Didn't work for Te against our warriors. Balanced stance doesn't have near 100% coverage.
ViM is also incredibly random and that's a huge issue for monks.

yeah ViM and balanced stance didn't work too well in the tourny for Te. The best ranger/warrior counter I've found so far is a Mo/Me with distortion, its my favorite skill of the week .

I dont think I'd use VIM for energy, unless i was running a conditions based team. I think I'd rely on Word of Healing and no active energy management. Depends on your team set up of course, this kind of build would get eaten in an 8v8 battle, but in a split squad? needs an experienced monk with good positional sense. I havent tried it personally mind you.

Because iQ happened to have the absolute perfect counter to their build. Monks with draw and mend, and a martyr/heal party spammer.
