Hero's Ascent Monk
yo, been doing the PvE thing for a while now as a healer monk, want to get into the HoH type PvP and was wondering, what is the basic build for a healer monk for the HoH? I have watched a few GvG battles and have seen that most of the monks actually specialize in prot more than healing, is it this way for HoH?

Actully a usaully healer in HoH would be a Mo/Me with channeling,inspired hex,or drain enchants and inspired hex, or A Mo/N with Offering of Blood for energy mangement the 3rd monk in HoH is a pure prot with me energy mangement most of the TIME.There are exception
1.Healing Monk
2.Healing Monk
3.Protection Monk
4.W/e(as in whatever :P)

I am currently running a Mo/N for OoB, but what should i equip in the manner of skills? is it bascially the same as a PvE healer?

For spike teams, and everything else Pretty Standard.
i Really recommend sticking as a Mo/N OoB is by far the best energy management Skill IMHO

lol what skills do pve monks use?
even within the 2 heal monks there are differences.
for example, a grp might want sb(spellbreaker)/infuse and woh(word of healing)/hp(heal party) <-- 2 kinds of monks
if u joined a grp and they didnt even ask u what kind of monk u r or didnt even request anything, its not a good grp.
also unless u got perfect weapons, rolling a pvp monk is better.

Why would you run CoP on a monk with no enchantments to put on yourself? Holy Veil seems like a much better option to me.

IMO, think twice about monking as infuse . There's a big amount of pressure in that position, and I wouldn't bet on puggers to show understanding when you make mistakes. A WoH or a standard SB healer without infuse might be a little easier.
I honestly don't know what people want monks to run in tombs nowadays, but the fashion seems to be SB/Infuse (which is risky), Word Healers and standard prots.
15/16 heal, 9/10 inspiration, depending on your full skillbar.

With channeling and playing in HA, make sure you move so that gives you good returns for your spellcasting, or you will be in trouble very quickly. Positioning in tombs/HA is for energy maximisation, not necessarily in the backlines where you would take the least damage.
And outfit yourself with the right items too; a staff (blood staff if you're running OoB, +enchanting if you have SB) otherwise with + armour or health, and +15/-1 energy foci in your other slots just in case you get into some tight spots.
If you want to try a prot, you can too. If you make mistakes on a prot, it's less evident to an inexperienced team than a healer making mistakes (even though prots are critical).
Try this:
Reversal of Fortune
Guardian
Protective Spirit
Restore Condition [E]
Aegis
Channeling
Inspired Hex
Holy Veil
And do not underestimate the need for Prot Spirit. I know I did when I first started protting.

Tombs wise- Expecting a Prot Monk?...
Aegis
Guardian Etc on your team... thats why i prefer bringing CoP
Backline is 2 Healer - 1 Prot
Prot Enchant Spells mostly... thats why

You are right about people not using the prot spirits, its such amazing enchant and only good protters make full use of it
But your build, I would definately drop RoF and put in mend ailment. Personally RoF is way to overated, and rof spamming will just make your team lose super fast.

the only thing is i'm not sure if i want to change my secondary to /Me. I really like /N because of OoB. And i do have to mention, I came across a Boon Prot monk, seemed pretty effective and they use OoB so makes me happy there , so i was wondering if anyone could post a build for the Boon monk?

Precast it on yourself and maybe a couple of others before the battle starts, to catch any early hexes. As soon as you need to start actually healing people, drop them. It does no harm to have them up in the meanwhile, and dropping them to remove a key hex that gets thrown up straight away can make a big difference.

As someone pointed out cop does nothing for you with out enchantments, of which you have none that you can cast on yourself. My real concern is that you would recommend oob and infuse health on the same character. Sooner or later you are going to be put into a situation where you are going to do oob+infuse, be at ~40% health, and get nailed by a spike. That's why you hear people asking for sb/infuse monks, because you need sb alot of times to keep casters from pressuring you while you are infusing. Standard practice is disable the infuser with gale and spike the real target, so sb helps to keep the infuser operational. Since sb/infuse is a good combo then I'd recommend mo/me, channeling/inspired hex with 10 inspiration.

Keep sb on yourself as much as possible(unless there is a priority cast to make), focus on keeping monks free of hexes first, other party members second. Look for pre-spike indicators, stripped enchants in party menu, added hexes, someone wanding the target, or a poorly timed spike. Use inspired hex and channeling to keep energy maintained.
Running infuse health, is really an advanced build, and requires cat like reflexes to make it work well. JR's build for boon prot, looks rock solid to me, so thats another good build to work with. Silconwafer posted a good WoH monk, just put heal party into the empty slot and you are good to go. Just remember that most of these posted builds are suited for heros ascent, and are designed to rely on each other, in a balanced 3 monk team. If you wanted to try a monk in team arenas or random arenas, I think JR's build is the best build of these to try there, since it has hex/condition removal, and does a fair amount of healing on yourself and others. I'd dispute you there. An infuser shouldn't put themselves in that situation. An infuse should be a response to a spike, so I think you can safely assume downtime between the next spike, which is time enough to do two orisons. I believe the problem with a Mo/Me as an infuser is that your energy management is inadequate.
If you carry Channeling and Inspired, you need to get amongst the spikers to get energy, whereas an OoB infuser can stay out of spike range and move into it when they've already chosen a spike target. Running iHex means that you run the risk of running into a spike with no removable hexes, such as ranger spike. Not to mention that an OoB infuser has the luxury of double/triple infusing, and not being put into a bad spot with regards to energy.
But then, of course, you'd have to put SB on your second monk, and that leaves you with a bit less raw healing. But it still works very well.

after reviewing all the options, I think i have decided a boon prot is the best build for my character and my play style. But i DEFINITLY appreciate all of your guys' input, it really has expanded my understanding of a PvP monk
But please feel free to continue to post more builds (possibly more successful prot monks) and more ideas so i may continue to be educated
