Default Heh..

And you've played against me? Or when I'm using serious builds? You have no basis for which to criticize my playstyle. I thought there was a rule against flames here.

Whenever I see a boon protect in random arenas in every match, I simply just make an e-denial and kill boon protects easily, in fact im gonna make one now

boon prots needs hyper energy management to keep up in the form of offering.

Greven, don't be silly. Shame, mark of sub, diversion, blackout are all killer against boon prot. All you need is a few of those bad boys, and of course, enchant strips. Shame, MoS, shatter enchant and it's gg. If you get to him before your team has finished mopping him up (or they're on another target) then just cast some more on him. CoP doesn't work without enchants, so just get rid of his boon. It's not that tough =P

Warriors with +15/-1 energy items are pointless. What advantages does a W/N have over a N/X?

A team of all Warriors was able to obliterate 9 in a row with 1-2 monks and assorted other classes (one was a Hammer warrior, so we had double duty interrupting). Another group I was in had 2 Mesmers and a Ranger, and we slaughtered 8 groups including a pair of Boon/OOB/prot. Both of the groups I had with a Monk we made it into the Team Arenas a couple of rounds
That's Arenas. You posted in the GvG forum. There's a difference, and it's up to you to prove how an Arena build can make the transfer.

Default Lol.

The W/N was a joke build :P Totally *not* serious. I was really surprised how effective it *did* end up being though It wouldn't work in GvG simply because of energy constraints.

Yep, dom mesmer with mind wrack, burning, and diversion is the way to go vs a boon prot, nothing scares me more than diversion spam with a coordinated offense. Mind wrack and burn do a very healthy bit of damage; Diversion spam pretty much can't be countered without very finely controlled precasted holy veil; and draining divine boon is nasty. Part of it is that the boon prot relies on RoF to stay alive as its his main spam skill, diversion that and hes in trouble. Plus diversion opens up a very healthy window for your warriors to spike down a target, IMO its the best at that job because of the low recharge compared to shame and mark of subversion.

Nono, it's been proven time and again that the counter to boon prot, well in fact, ALL monks, is Gale, Blackout...Gale, Blackout...Gale, Blackout...Gale, Blackout.

Gale is certainly an overpowered skill and an excellent caster shutdown. I didn't include it on my list for the sole fact that Distortion is overpowered as well, and finds itself on my bar quite often.

Not really lethal, per se, but it will severely gimp his hex removal in the coming moments so that you can push into the team harder with his self hex removal being disabled (or him simply not removing backfire, in which case you can push into him just as hard)

Not really. There are a number of things a boon prot can do, the simplest of which is to simply wait 6 seconds. There are many situations where heals can be delayed, especially early in a battle where health bars are relatively high. Kiting can help you survive until diversion is gone and then you can start making up time. Backfire and Diversion are both 1.5s+ cast times even with fast casting, leaving the door wide open for veil to go up or cop to go off before diversion hits. If I were the victimized booner, I would complain to my nearest shutdown character that the mesmer is annoying me and is using several skills with long cast times.

At worst, Ill sac cop to diversion. even with just boon, I get rid of both hexes. Its not pretty but itll get me through and Ill be ready for the next diversion with veil. Just about the only way I see the combo being even marginally effective is if the booner makes the mistake of cop-ing backfire as soon as he sees it, and then getting stuck with diversion and no enchantments.

yes, thats enough to piss any monk off pretty badly, but after march 7th, who knows?

anywho, back on topic.

boon prot is just a very good build, but mostly, it just depends on the skills of the person playing it. if you play smart and understand your enemy, and dont do stupid things like spam cast through backfire(i've seen a monk do it in gvg ><), or have a complete lack of kiting skills, you should be pretty hard to take down.
