Ok, I want to get a Rank but i can't even get past RA. I was thinking of making a Mo/N or something to try and get through, any other ideas?

There are no noob questions only noob answers. Like this one. You could always farm some rank by attaching yourself to a sucessful group. Overall though if you can't get past RA I'd say that you need to make a new character entirely. Go with a wammo they are pretty easy to deal with.

I've tried to say away from a Whammo (As per the "N33BZ0RZ" Tag often applied to them), So i'm thinking of making one Completely Different from the Premade one.

Actually, you can't get rank in the RA or TA. You need to be in the HoH or whatever today's equivalent is, on the eight man teams and winning. So 'getting past RA' is irrelevant to rank.

make a boon/prot monk... usually any team with one of those can go 5+ cons.
EDIT -- and yes... you can only get fame and thus rank from winning in HA... and you go RA --> TA --> HA

Ohh.. that's why. Premades are pretty bad. Play PvE a little bit to unlock more skills and make a custom PvP guy. RA will be much easier then.

you unlock TA by winning 5 times in a row in RA. i'm not too sure how you unlock HA though.
anyways, wammos are given the idiot tag by their behavior only. to remove it from yourself, simply behave in a more experienced manner, and no one will call you a noob.
EDIT: i'm pretty impressed with the "warrior's bane" premade. granted, it really should be a mesmer not a necro, but works very well nonetheless. i laughed myself sick everytime some warrior attack through ineptitude. works for unsuspecting casters too when they decide to wand.

Fame can be earned in Heros Ascent. To get there you must have 5 consec wins in random arenas, then you move to team arenas. another 5 consec wins will get you to Heros Ascent.
Your fame is earned with consecutive wins in heros ascent, but unless you have a friends list of people that pvp, youll have difficulty finding a good grp being unranked

Wow. People are giving a lot of confused and off-topic answers. Hes asking for a good way of getting 5 in a row in RA. What's with all the stuff about W/mos?
And yes, to get rank you need to be in HA. To get to HA you need to win 5 times in RA, then 5 times in TA. Stop saying winning in RA/TA is 'irrelevant'
You might try checking http://gw.gamewikis.org/wiki/Category:Build_stubs for some build ideas and see what you can come do. Most of them that are made for PvP work pretty well in getting you 5 wins in RA.

Because telling him that W/Mos are good in RA and might get him 5 in a row is waaaaay off-topic, right?

I've been PvPing for quite a long time (since August 05). Random arenas is pretty fun, once you understand how it works. Here is one of my favorite builds to go in to RA with:
Air Spiker (E/Me)
1) Lightning Surge (E)
2) Lighting Orb
3) Ennervating Charge
4) Blinding Flash
5) Drain Enchantment
6) Air Attunement
7) Inspired Hex
8) Rez Sig
The basic idea is to cause a great deal of damage in a three second period. So, find a target you like, cast Lightning Surge, then Orb, then Ennerv Charge. That's about 110+110+60 damage on a normal target (less on a warrior). In between your spiking, put blinding flash on the warriors. If you see a warrior getting his conditions removed somehow, stack blinding flash with ennervating charge. Blinding flash pwns warriors.
Another great thing about this build is that it's pretty good against monks. That's *alot* of damage in a short period; if the monk is under pressure and doesn't get the prot spirit off, it is gg for that monk. Also, if you do see a prot spirit pop up on the monk after you cast LSurge, simply drain enchant, then orb (then LStrike).
You might want to replace Inspired Hex with distortion, or simply Lightning Strike. Both work fine.

No, it's just wrong. Self healing War/Mos are bad. They have inefficient damage because of the amount of attributes and energy they spend keeping themselves alive. And because they're Warrior primaries, they have poor healing powers and energy management. Basically you have a shitty healer doing shitty damage.
Run a boon prot, you'll win a lot.

They made a change so newer players have to win 5 in a row in RA to move on to TA. Then then have to win 5 in a row at TA to move onto HA.
My suggestion is play either a warrior or a monk. These two classes are best able to carry your team. On top of this a vast majority of RA players are really really bad. Thus you may or may not have a chance at winning 5 with any given team.
Warrior Build:
12+1+3 Axe
9+1 Strength
9+1 Tactics
Eviscerate
Executioner's
Axe Rake
Bull's Strike
Heal Sig
Rush
Frenzy
Rez Sig
Basic build with fairly high damage. Charge up your adrenaline attacks and release them all at once on a target. Use rush to cancel frenzy if you get attacked. Heal sig will counter degen.
Monk Build:
12+1+3 Divine Favor
9+1 Prot
9 Inspiration
Reversal of Fortune
Guardian
Signet of Devotion
Mend Condition
Holy Veil
Divine Boon
Energy Drain
Rez Sig
Fairly flexible and strong RA monk. You heal and protect at the same time.
The +1+3 is a superior rune and a +1 headpiece. If you don't have the superior rune yet unlocked don't worry about it. Just get that stat as high as you can.

Do not ever go to guild wiki for PvP builds. Guild wiki has long had a PvE bias to it and is dang near useless for any PvP information. It is like asking players in LA american 1 what a good warrior build is. It will be especially hard for a new player to sort out the decent builds from the trash.

Alternative more "noob-friendly" axe warrior.
12+4 Axe Mastery
9 Beast Mastery
9+1 Tactics
3+1 Strength
Eviscerate
Axe Rake
Executioner's Strike
Bull's Strike
Tiger's Fury
Healing Signet
Rush
Res Sig
You're pretty much restricted to a Zealous hilt with this setup.

This build (or variations thereof) should get you quite far in RA/TA once you get used to it. Have a play with it and with practice you should roll through monk-less teams in RA with ease. Just keep divine boon up at all times, cast use signet of devotion for top up heals and energy drain as soon as it recharges. Mend condition is a wonder drug for stacked conditions. If you see a mesmer or necro on the other side you're likely to be hexed, so pre-cast holy veil before agro so that you can remove a hex instantly after it's cast.
There are many builds posted on these forums under Gladiator's Arena. Most builds get critiqued quite heavily here (constructively or otherwise), so you'll get an idea of the strengths and weaknesses of each build before you run it.
Good luck with it and feel free to ask questions if you need.

The Blacklight build (as coined by Silmor) is probably one of the most effective builds in RA, where you can rely on poor opposition to faction farm.
Quote:
Blacklight
Curses: 12+1+3
Soul Reaping: 6+1
Inspiration Magic: 11
Enfeeble
Faintheartedness
Spiteful Spirit
Parasitic Bond
Desecrate Enchantments
Inspired Hex
Drain Enchantment
Resurrection Signet

This topic has been covered to death. Please use the search function. All you have to do is keep at it and build up a friends list of people who you know to be good. You'll have no problem finding groups, and before you know it, good groups will start inviting you. Keep an open mind and always learn. That's more important than Rank3/6/9/12.
As for the OP, your question should have been answered by now. At any rate, search more before you post another "Noob Question" as you put it. It's only a noob question because it can be answered eastily by searching, not because it pertains to being a noob in pvp.
