The fact that its damage can make 3 of the non-iway teams members (the monks) obsolete. All IWAY have to do is keep spirits down. They don't even need to damage spike.

False: like any bulid worth its own effort, IWAY is sucessful when properly run by good players. Er... that's all i got for now.

Oh, yes. Oh, yes. The fact that my team gets punished for succeeding is utter crap. The fact that this spirit can be hidden and trapped to hell is utter crap. The fact that too many builds abuse it is utter crap. It needs to be fixed so that it works only when enemies die. EoE bomb, intentionally done or otherwise, is the most absurd and frustrating aspect of HA play, IMO.

The difference is, an IWAY warrior has no use whatsoever outside of an IWAY group. This is what your average "r2" iway enthusiast will play as. A WoH/HP, to take your example, not only has many uses in many builds, but also teaches the value of conservative healing, kiting, countering e-denial, hex removal, and battlefield awareness. These are skills that can be used in any build, in any competitive setting. An IWAY group will learn very few things, in relation:
"Drop spirits"
"TF the monks"
"Taint everyone"
"Trap the wards"
"Spam orders"
And that about covers it. A decent IWAY will spike targets, time attacks, trap defensively, use the maps, etc. But those teams are few and far between; just another reason that the answer here is false.

This answer is obviously false. If it was overpowered, then IWAY would be winning halls everday 90% of the time, then maybe people would actually respect IWAY players for the skilled players that they are.
Just think about this for a second:
Yesterday, I was in a IWAY Guild Group, we faced a bloodspike on the first alter map, and we won, quite easily in fact. This blood spike team was rank 6+ at least. However, instead of getting a "gg" at the end of the game, we got a "nub IWAY" or "Stop running iway nubs". Think about it, what do you do to kill people in blood spike? One person calls 3,2,1, and everyone attempts to press the 1 key at once. How much skill does this really take? Blood Spike takes no more skill then IWAY, if not less. Think about how much skill YOUR ROLE really takes next time before calling anyone nubs for running their build.
BTW, as an IWAYer, I never talk crap to anyone, the only time I will talk crap is when someone starts it. So please, dont talk crap to anyone.

What is the build for IWAY, anyway? You obviously equip I Will Avenge You. I think I will look that up. Maybe it has a weakness.....:

IWAY is in no way overpowered. It simply rolls over new groups, as everybody who plays it knows it's template.
Most 'good' balanced teams now carry 2 mesmers and it's these 2 guys that hold the key to defeating IWAY almost everytime.
They stick the surger on the resolve trapper, and the migraine on the martyr. If the trappers can't get NR up or any traps off, its pretty much gg iway.

Not many groups carry that exact combination. Do you play balance much?

See thats the things im trying to discover, because sure for rank 0-3 iways teams they just taint, rush, spamm orders and such. But in my r8/9+ iway teams its decisions that win us the game.
For example
Where to trap, which trap to use and why. To watch the oponent to see where he will run.
Things like being good enough to know when a monk will use a spell and to use distracting blow at the right moment to stop him.
Watching your enemy surgers/migraines and making sure that the wars stay on them in order to cast your metoer shower without them interupting you.
Staying on your target, putting full pressure on anyone that cause cause mass dmg or pressure to your team.
Using windborune on a warrior that dosent have sprint in order to increase the pressure on the person he is attacking.
the list is endless, my point is people with high rank have been playing iway so long that maybe they are just so good at it and its easier to learn then builds like balanced.

Any decent r3/6+ balanced group will run 2 mesmers.

False. its not overpowered
iway can be stopped in so many ways...
stay in wards.
put aegis.
put migrane on martyr trapper.
put migrane on orders.
put blurred vision, shadow of fear, faintheartedness, ss, sv and any movement slowing hexes on the warriors.
if you do half of these things its enough to get flawless against r9+ 'pro' iway

IWAY is powerful mostly due to familiarity and practice at this point. You play the same build 100+ times and you'd be good at it too. Problem with your rank 3/6 "balance" pugs is that rolls aren't clearly defined and they often totally lack synergy. Having an overtly offensive pressure/spike combination with responses to simple counters is a straightforward approach to HA play. Combine a strong aggressive build with dozens of hours practice and you have the IWAY meta game.
IWAY and spike dominate the tombs meta game with is kind of nice because they take polar opposite approaches. Since they coexist, it is hard to see one as overpowered.

Bloodspike is an awfull build. It's a pure holding build whit a shitty spike and its very hard to play it good. You need very much skill to get bloodspike into halls. So dont say as an iway player that bloodspike recuires less skill then iway.
Mostly Iway players have less skill then not Iway players because Iway is 90% offence, so as an iway player you learn only how do deal as much as dmg as possible. You dont learn the defensive parts of HA.

Iway is not overpowered and its not the real problem in Ha either.
The problem in HA is that some people play to win halls others to farm fame.(not that you can't win halls with IWAY but the average pug never will.)
Even if the skill iway was nerfed to hell, i think that you would still have a fotm that was similair. Fame farmers are running deathmatch match build with the idea of wiping out the other team. Now a team that actually wants to win the halls has to make a holding build, and try and win the deathmatch style battles too. I belive JR said it best to paraphrase' IWAY is simply win or lose really fast and then do it again for fame."
PS there are people who run IWAY who are good players and Im not saying that they are nubs or bad players, its the 90% other ppl who make Iway look mindless.

Bloodspikers say IWAY lacks skill, IWAYers say bloodspike lacks skill. Blah blah blah. Spam orders, trap everything, kill the monks, keep spirits up. Or... 3, 2, 1, spike! Use Heal Party! Next target... 3, 2, 1, spike! Heal ghostly!
It's all the same.

Personally, i have never really played iway, until last night. I joined a r/6+ group, we got to the hall's but did not when. Before i went iway, which from now on i will be playing. I had accumulated 15 fame for over 2-3 month periord of playing balanced groups. yes only 15 fame, now i have 56ish fame just from playing 1 iway group! i now will only play iway never again balanced groups!!

In regards to the issue with rank - where people can now get into any group basically through faming IWAY - I think it would be really good if when someone flashes there emote it would say what char was used the most to accumulate the wins!!!
Say I got a bambi and it also flashes W/R etc.
I dunno bad suggestion as is probably impossible to make but would definitely find out which people farmed there fame more skillfully.
