Anyone Experimented with a Enraged Smash Build?
Has anyone Experimented with an Enraged Smash Build?
I was looking at Enraged Smash after playing around with forceful blow and it seems that an pretty nice but limited functionality DPS build can be built around it.
Enraged smash has the possibilty of being an +33 or +40 attack that charges up in 1 adrenaline hit, could the pure DPS of it outpower a lesser DPS build with Deep Wound?
An Es/Irresistible blow spammer on paper could possibly do more consistent damage than anything else in game? could this be true?
I'm thinking something along the lines of ES/Staggering blow/Auspacaious Blow/Rush/ Frenzy/ Irresistible blow
(Staggering is terrible but non elite source of weakness for Auspacious blow which serves as energy Management and the adrenaline skills wont be used too often to maximize damage from ES)
Not sure what to do with last 2 spots was thinking of hammer bash/heavy blow and crushing blow but no res sig, no healing sig and possibly having to sacrifce deep wound skill to fit them in probably makes this build terrible.
Heck the mad scientist in me wants to even try to put a few points in axe and just bring dismember for deep wound.
Is there any possibilty of turning this into a viable build or is it just too out there and deep wound just too powerful to even think of running.
The way I see it any ES build will only have 1 or 2 spots to play around with (1 slot for Es, 1 Slot for Irresistible, 1 slot for Rush, 1 slot for frenzy, 2-3 Slots for Adren Skills to boost ES)
Anyone got an ideas what to do with ES, it just seems to have so much potential that it shouldnt be written off as a trash skill without giving it a decent bit of experimenting.

I did try it, but the problem was that I had trouble stopping kiting. Use a knockdown and you'll lose all adrenaline (providing it is a guarnteed knockdown like hammer bash, not something like bull's strike) so you can't stop kiting that way. Hammers don't have a crippling attack, so you can't snare them that way...you get the idea. The dps would have been amazing if I could hit a guy who just stood there and took it, but if he doesn't you sometimes have problems.
It is worth noting however that you can get the bonus damage from charged non-attack skills like "Watch Yourself!" and rush, so you can fit in more utility since you probably wouldn't be using your adrenaline attack skills anyway. Those skills also tend to charge quicker, helping you start hitting hard faster, and getting you back on your feet after a death quicker.
Maybe something along the lines of...
Enraged Smash{E}
Watch Yourself
Hammer Bash
Frenzy
Rush
Bull's Strike
--Counter Blow? Need one more adrenaline skill for this to work fully, CB has a quick charge and marginal usefulness when fighting physical damage characters.

What about combining a Enraged Smash hammer war with a weeken knee nec (maybe using DF)?
Personal opinion: If you want raw DPS, I do think that thumpers (enraged lunge ftw) or dragon slash warriors ("For great justice") are a lot better.

Just use Enraged Smash like there's no tomorrow. Youll be hitting ~100 damage per swing vs soft (60 al armor) targets if all those adrenal skills are recharged.

I can see the usefulness of such a big spammable attack, but considering the utterly slow swing speed of a hammer combined with the relative lack of a KD, can this warrior be expected to do anything but draw prots and heals?
Considering that KD is most useful to a hammer warrior, I maintain that it only makes sense to bring the hardest hitting attacks after the KD. Bringing skills to fuel an attack that swings every 3.5 seconds doesn't make much sense to me, especially considering that those skills are more or less useless otherwise.

I was playing around with this build on paper for a GvG warrior that uses Enraged Smash.
Warrior/xxx
Level: 20
Strength: 4 (3+1)
Tactics: 13 (12+1)
Hammer Mastery: 16 (12+4)
Enraged Smash [Elite] (Hammer Mastery)
If it hits, Enraged Smash deals +11 damage (maximum bonus 40) for each fully charged adrenal skill you have.
Adrenaline:2
Irresistible Blow (Hammer Mastery)
If this attack hits you strike for +32 damage. If Irresistible Blow is "blocked," your target is knocked down and takes 32 damage. Irresistible Blow cannot be "evaded."
Energy:5 Cast:0 Recharge:4
Rush (Strength)
For 11 seconds, you move 25% faster.
Adrenaline:4
Hammer Bash (Hammer Mastery)
Lose all adrenaline. If Hammer Bash hits, your target is knocked down.

The idea here is that this is a "pressure" warrior who deals out very good DPS while still retaining the abilty to KD and spike with a deep wound. Once adrenaline is charged (which should be instantaneous w/ "To the Limit") every other attack is Enraged smash (+40 DMG)alternating with a irresistable blow (+32)/ regular attack.
You can still hammer bash/ crushing blow combo to spike and then refill adrenaline with "to the limit."
Another "pressure" idea here is the "Fear Me" / "To the Limit" combo which allows you to drain 8 energy from foes in the area instantaneously while refilling all your adrenal skills (well, 1 short on Hammer Bash).
This is a build that clearly works better mixing it up in the middle of an 8v8 setting and would be severly diminished in a solo or split situation. I realize its a little noobish for not having a rez sig.
Feedback desired. I've been playing a ranger for a long time and am trying to learn how to play a PvP warrior- but I'm going mostly on a pretty crude understanding of what a warrior's role is in GvG- do damage, spike, don't sweat defense, have some ability to move fast to attempt to limit kiting,etc.

In complete agreement, the main advantage of a hammer war is the Kd imo and keeping the hard hitting attacks for when your enemy is kd'ed. Enraged smash is pure damage quickly with a lot of sacrifices to be made to provide that damage.
Unlike the ES war the Dragonway(DS and fgj) war can absolutely pump out the damage
