Alliance Battles w00t!1!
Well, Arenanet have finally made some improvements to alliance battles. You can now talk to the rest of your team!
I'm going to go buy some beers in Thunderhead Keep and then party till some Charr Shaman can kick my ass. Oh and I've nearly got my minipet. Hurray!

They made one stride, I'll agree.
But they still have a way to go before I start playing it again.

Team chat is now more cluttered and confusing as you don't know who really talks, just the "ally" on one of the other teams. Was looking forward to the update, but it's still subpar of the quality found in the FPE. Back to Aspenwood I guess.

Extremely easier... team chat chats to all 12 instead of just your four.

Yes, when an "ally" on your original four talks, they have a darker blue than the rest. Also, it shows (ally) next to their name.
I'm glad this happened. It means that Anet is listening. However, I still will not be playing the game until 2 conditions are met.
-The ability to join the game as 1 person (having to be rejected time and time again because I choose to play as a mesmer)
-I can see all 12 members of my party in the party window. The 8 as party members or under allies. Does not matter to me (I feel useless as a monk when I play)
But I'm glad something is happening.

Its a good start, but it can still get better.
We need to see the energy bars of the WHOLE 12 person team (as Allies under your team, but seperate via squad) so we can VISUALLY SEE who is under attack and who is dying and where the fighting is at.

Yeah. I agree; at least this shows ANet is doing SOMETHING about the clearly unhappy players. And I am certain the changes will continue to take place.
They definately need to put it more like how it was. Firstly they need to make it so you can see the other people on your side, as allies or even make it one big party. This way you can see generally how well the teams are doing and who's dying a lot, and keep track of where people are running more.
They also need to make it so you can join seperately. It is a great disadvantage to so many people. People who play the lesser-used classes aren't going to be accepted at all. It'll be mostly warriors and monks running around.
I agree that something should have been changed from the FPE, but they went a bit overboard. The mindless battles didn't work properly, with the group getting stuck in their base with the winning team sitting outside literally laughing at them. So good on ANet for doing something about that problem.

Nice update, but the constant calling of targets from people not on my team clutters the ally chat a lot however. Couldn't they just make ally chat fall under the trade channel, and keep team chat to just your team?

Or they could just add another chat tab for while you're in AB. Just like they do for when you're in observer mode during GvG.

I agree. When you cant see the whole team, healing, antihex and condition and such are all impractical cept for your own team which makes specialised 4man teams to do such a thing impossible to do. And the 1 man thing is what made AB better than HoH, you can get a team... always. No waiting 3 hours for a pug of morons becuase your guild isnt online etc.
