Default Air Spike/Utility build

This is the build that i use with my air ele at the moment. Can you please give me some feedback on it, with ideas for imporvemnts and comments. Thanks in advance.

Elementalist/Mesmer
Level: 20

Energy Storage: 12 [will be 13, but i dont have minor rune unlocked yet]
Air Magic: 14 (12+2) [willbe 16, but i dont have sup rune unlocked]



- Air Attunement (Air Magic)
For 58 seconds, you are attuned to Air. You gain 30% of the Energy cost of the skill whenever you use Air Magic.
Energy:10 Cast:2 Recharge:45

- Blinding Flash (Air Magic)
Target foe is Blinded for 10 seconds.
Energy:15 Cast:0.75 Recharge:4

- Enervating Charge (Air Magic)
Target foe is struck for 47 lightning damage and suffers from Weakness for 19 seconds. This Spell has 25% armor penetration.
Energy:10 Cast:1 Recharge:8

- Lightning Strike (Air Magic)
Strike target foe for 47 lightning damage. This Spell has 25% armor penetration.
Energy:5 Cast:1 Recharge:5

- Lightning Orb (Air Magic)
Lightning Orb flies toward target foe and strikes for 94 lightning damage if it hits. This Spell has 25% armor penetration.
Energy:15 Cast:2 Recharge:5

- Power Leak (Domination Magic)
If target foe is casting a Spell, the Spell is interrupted and target foe loses 10..22 Energy.
Energy:10 Cast:0.25 Recharge:20

- Gale (Air Magic)
Knock down target foe for 3 seconds. This Spell causes Exhaustion. (50% failure chance with Air Magic 4 or less.)
Energy:10 Cast:1 Recharge:5

- Resurrection Signet ()
Resurrect target party member. That party member is returned to life with 100% Health and 25% Energy. You may use this Signet only once per mission.
Energy:0 Cast:3 Recharge:0


Basically, i use the air spiking skills for dmg, powerleak to interupt any annoying spells ie backfire, and gale for sig interuption or to stop fleeing foes [gale>res sig ].I use the blinding flash for annoying w's/r's/sins. I use air attunement constantly for e-management.


I will also be including lightning surge, when i get 3000 faction to unlock it, and so would like some ideas about what to substitute it in for.

Few things to help you.
Firstly I would not use power leak. If you wanted a bit more energy and an interrupt put a few points in inspiration and use power drain, much better.
Secondly no elite ?? even so lightning surge is crap as if it is seen it can quickly be removed. There are just better elites, like say Ether Prodigy. And with ether prodigy you don't need air attune. So maybe..

Ether Prodigy {E}
Blinding Flash
Lightning Strike
Lightning Orb
Enervating Charge
Power Drain
Gale/Drain Enchantment -- depending on situation.

16 Air
12 (or more) Energy Storage (with minor rune)
and the rest in inspiration.

This is pretty standard really except for additional support, become E/Mo and take heal party.

okay, thanks for your advise. the reason i dodnt have any elties included as of yet is that ive just started as an ele (pvp) and so havent unlocked any of the ele elites yet .

looks very solid with exception of Power Leak. replace it with Elemental Attunement or Ether Prodigy as fatboyslimerr indicated.

you're current build is lacking in e-management besides air attunement. and it doesnt include an elite.
Ether Prodigy/Renewal/Elemental Attunement will all work, if you arent using the Elemental Attunement than you might as well drop Air Attunement and free another skill slot.

I'm finding that air eles best friend is Ether Prodigy.

Agreed on Power Drain but coupled with Ether Prodigy is a bit counter productive so then I'd say Elle Attune + Power Drain is better choice.

Another option is taking Energy Drain {E} and Air attune. You decide.
