Hello,

Apparently, we found out that we have big issues dealing with dual smite or single+degen.

We have no real problem getting the monks down eventually, but the bad part is that our defense cannot hold all that damage. So What can we do?

First of all, heres a brief break down of our defensive/utility line
Our anti melee consists of :

Blurred Vision/Deep Freeze/Ward v Melee/Ward v Foes/1 or 2 black outs (Ranger+Mesmer...)

Our "Utility":

2 Heal Parties (if its vs Smiting+Degen)
or
1 Heal party + Crip Shot (I guess this will go in anti melee a bit)

Our monks are: a healing + a boon prot

The Healing monk usually stays back and our Boon Prot usually stays up (Staggered)

Offense:

2 Melee, Shatter Ench, + Projectile from An Elly, or a ranger. (Also deep freeze or water attacks when possible)

I know its hard to determine an answer for this kind of question when you dont know how the monks play, but we do completely fine against most balanced teams, and yes we do know pre-kiting and kiting.

We kite thru wards, but the damage seems to overwhelm us and our warriors really can't touch the warriors being smited. Also, we found out that good Smiters help out the "real monks" and Although the smiting monks have weak self-healing, with good back line monks, we were unable to strike them down fast. But we do get them eventually down. However, again, getting them down isn't the main concern for us, we need a more effective way to counter smiting in terms of defensive measures and maybe even general measures.

I hope I wasn't too confusing on what I'm trying to say here, to anyone who gives a response, I thank you in advance.

Do you have diverson on your mesmer, If you spam diverson on the smiters it really hurts them if they lose anything from their spam chain(air, rof, guardian), Also shattering or draining(whichever type of enchant removal you have) on the zealots fire helps.

This is, imo the strongest defence against this kind of team. Almost always on this kind of smiter the zealots will be uncovered, and if you can get rid of that whenever it comes up then you have removed a huge chunk of their damage.

other than that, good pre-kiting is ftw as always.

I would think Diversion is too predictable; the smiters should be packing hex breaker, if not then no problem.

When Anet added smiter back to game (air of enchanting), they also added heavy antismiting skill.... Gaze Of Contempt...

You should probably give up that whole staggering thing and just have both of them position best for the situation they see.

Versus smiting, pre kiting is key, and if you have all those snares it shouldn't be too difficult^_~
